Its not his accomplishments that folks have a problem with. Its his insider start with lots of govt subsidy help from his friend Obama. But history is what it is at this point. If he can survive without subsidies going forward, good for him.
BTW, many companies accomplish more than Musk. Its not hard to name several large companies that have longer records of accomplishment. Most companies, do that without govt assistance.

Almost every company that employs a lot of people or generates a lot of business activity get subsidies.
90% of subsidies are state and local.
And all subsidies are done as contracts. The companies must meet certain requirements, like employing a stated number of people, investing a stated amount of money, or bringing in a stated amount of revenue.

Musk is what he is — a visionary. Everyone here seems to think fooling the government to help subsidize his industry is something new. Check out the history of the Transcontinental Railroad with Thomas Durant and Collis Huntington — that was super corruption and tax payer bilking. Makes what Musk does seem like child’s play.
I’d have to agree. Anyone who can bilk the feds out of 6 billion dollars has something going on.
Say what you will about Musk, he’s one of the few guys in Silicon Valley still dreaming big and swinging for the fences. For that, I appreciate him. Everyone else is just busy trying to build worthless social media apps and praying they get bought up before their funding runs out.
