Different "they"s - Joyless Screed would love Bernie because he's competing in the free-s*** sweepstakes. Buttboy is shrewd enough to know that's an overcrowded field and he has a better shot at the nomination as the non-senile (comparative) moderate.

But that's not enough free s*** for Joyless, who looks out above all for a demographic group with which she shares a superficial characteristic that she sees as central to her identity. (And she may have a point - a no-talent like her would get nowhere without being part of that group.)
