Its not just Chinese numbers. South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore have all managed to effectively contained it.
As for the Chinese numbers they already started opening factories in Hubei province last week and they have deconstructed most of the emergency hospitals they built for coonavirus. They wouldn't do that is infections were still rising like before and ore than that, people couldn't be coming out.

Of course, it helps in Taiwan and Singapore that the government jumped on social media networks popular in those countries and did a very aggressive information campaign to inform its citizens of the threat. As such, you didn't have the ridiculous amount of afflicted and dead like you did in China, Italy and soon Spain.

What Italy did wrong is denial. Too many here are making the same mistake.

Chinese New Year was from 1/25/20 through 1/30/20. The first reported death in Italy was 2/21/20. I updated my chart showing side by side Italy and US deaths from first day adding on the increase from the day before.

Italy/USA reported deaths days 1-16

1/1
2/6 +1/+5
3/9 +1/+3
7/11 +4/+3
11/12 +4/+1
12/15 +1/+3
17/19 +5/+4
21/22 +4/+3
29/26 +8/+4
41/30 +12/+4
52/38 +11/+8
79/41 +27/+3
107/49 +28/+8
148/57 +41/+8
197/68 +49/+11
233/73 +36/5

Tomorrow will be very telling because Italy jumped to 133 deaths on day 17.

Not only do we need to flatten the curve, but expand our medical resources, crank out those ventilators. Get Amazon with their superior logistical capabilities involved.

Can someone shed light on the Italian Healthcare System and the age stats in the deaths?

Italy has second oldest population in the world. The average age of the Corona victim there is 81.

Stop shouting and use some logic. This virus is most likely a bioweapon that escaped from China’s P4 lab in Wuhan. Humankind has no immunity to it, and we don’t know what it does. Do you think that China shut down their economy and barricaded people in their homes because of a mild illness? Of course not. The Chinese did this because they know damned well what the virus is and where it came from, and they know that it’s dangerous.

Here’s one link for you, with demographics of coronavirus deaths in Italy:

https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/comment/italy-coronavirus-outbreak/

Many under the age of 40 are sick in Italy. The article states, “The ISS has also noted that a significant proportion of people affected by Covid-19 are under the age of 30 years and that the age group may be a significant focus for transmission prevention measures.”

Here’s an article from six days ago with a report from one Italian doctor. You can find the link to the doctor’s complete letter inside the article:

If it can be proven that this virus originated in a Chinese biological warfare lab the world has to take action. Biological warfare is a violation of the Geneva convention, so now it’s up to United Nations to become relevant, and prove it really is a force for good.

A lot went home to China for the Fri, Feb 12th Lunar New Year Holiday, and probably brought it along with them, when they returned to Italy.

With the average age of the population in Italy being 45.5 , it has almost the oldest average age among all nations.

And see What can Italy teach the rest of the world about health? and comments.

Anecdotal, but it is what it is.
One of our Vendors from Ningbo sent us an email saying that the are seeing that the US is starting to get COVID19.
He is saying that they are starting to open up everything, and that supply stockpiles have started coming back.
They asked us if they needed us to have them send anything over.
There wasn’t a lot of detail in the email, and who knows if its real or not, but that what we have been told.

That pretty much gels with my own sources. I have quite a few Chinese friends.

Doesn’t Italy have a “migrant” problem? How is that sector doing?

Yes, but that wouldn’t generate nearly as much panic.
