"does the entire American population really need to "social distance" itself into isolation and depression?"

Oh, waaaaaaa! Stinky butt needs to take a breath himself and stop projecting his effeminate hysteria. I'm going for a short jog without even getting in the car.

With their social habits, the party crowd might as well be licking toilets.

Yes we do need to do this for a period of time. Case in point is all those kids down in Florida on Spring Break. Some are now confirmed corona virus positive. I assure you there are many multiple more that are positive and now carries of the disease and do not even now it. As they are young their risk is low. They can carry the infection to the public and their own family with those at high risk and then kill them with the disease. It is really that simple.

I have a good friend of many years that is my neighbor. We eat lunch together 2 or 3 times a week and drinks and good conversation. He is 15 years younger than I. We still meet for a drink and conversation but not food, food can be a vector. We no longer go into each others homes. I am given a sterile glass and the whiskey is sterile. The ice cubes as such. It is all outside at a discreet distance. As he is younger than I with a superior immune system he is actually protecting me. He is a very dear friend. I most enjoyed shaking hands with he and his wife and hugging both. This will not longer happen until this is over.

“Pres Trump will win this huge assault on our freedom and I only wonder what the one worlders will try next.”

We are going to be lost without him after his next term.

He’s done amazing things, but you’re right - we ARE in a WAR to keep America. There’s no doubt in my Military Mind.

Amen to that!

Like most people, I had initial deep concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, I think some perspective and proportion are overdue.

Attempted objectivity and perspective tend to be censored by myopic alarmists.

"Get back to me when the numbers get close."

As long as we're still alive when that happens. If this virus mutates - and they almost always do - then whatever inconveniences we have to endure now could make all the difference.

Like I said earlier, in a national emergency we are supposed to make sacrifices.

I have absolutely no problem with making “sacrifices”. In fact this hysteria really has no effect on me since my lifestyle is all about going food shopping once per week and an occasional trip with my wife (2 times weekly on average) to take a drive and look at horses (my wife loves them.)and this is done from the car. Otherwise I am an avid reader and listen to the great collection of music I have amassed over the years.

I am well into my 70’s and so in that group must subject to harm from the China Virus. But I am far more concerned with the HYSTERIA which has gripped the world which I promise you will be seen for what it truly is when this all passes, as it will.

Already we are reading about how the Italian death toll from the China virus is actually far, far less and they are now reporting just 12% of the deaths are directly attributed to the China Virus. Is that exactly right? I don’t know but this (blaming every death on the Chinese Virus) is being reported elsewhere as well and is also being disputed.

I have no answers but I do know that hysteria serves no purpose save for our enemies both within and outside America.

Not promoting hysteria but I do fight idiots who aren't ready to take it seriously. My background includes years of experience in nuclear, biological and chemical weapons employment and NBC defense.

The very last thing anyone should do is ignore a disease that spreads as fast and easily as this one does. You and I may be in the part of the population most threatened right now but unfortunately for the younger folks all of that could change, quickly.

All we are required to do is wash really often and well and to isolate ourselves. Our economy will take a dive for now but it will all come back quickly after this thing is beaten back.

We have a lot of dimwitted brethren who are trying to get sports events reinstated and don't want "government" telling them to stay home - but this is a once-a-century event that has to be respected and fought.

And by the way, China's lying - they have many more casualties than they are admitting to - and so is Germany: they only count folks who were tested and then died. If some guy dies without being known to have the Chinese virus, they don't test him and they don't count him.

Of course China is lying, since when don’t they lie to further their own interest or cover their sorry asses. And ditto Germany...Merkel is one of the more pompous buttwipes in the EU.

I have no problem self isolating because it represents very little in the way of a lifestyle change and the same goes for my wife. I’m in SC and so far there has been no explosion in cases with the total sitting at 195 and no deaths

I maintain the reg flu going around has killed far more at 23,000 and still counting with over 34,000,000 infected. Also with the availability of test kits for the China Virus the number of reported cases shot up and the corresponding death rate as a % of the total infected as plummeted as was expected.

It is serious but so is the regular flu. Back in 2012 (I think) the regular flu took almost 70,000 American lives and there was no panic. Why?
