In 1913 Abraham Flexner was Commissioned to write a report (why am I doing this again? To get bitched at for “so you think you’re educating us, go away moron!”) by the Carnegie Foundation which was delivered to Congress in 1913. The Report itself was a book, full of recommendations in regard chiefly to the education of physicians but also made a number of recommendations to “end the practice of ‘commercialism’” of Medicine in an effort to regulate “Charlatanism and Quackery”. In the ensuing years all of his recommendations were codified into law and the kind of advertising this guy was doing was made illegal as was “direct to public marketing”. With the advent of drugs like Lipitor drug companies clearly lobbied for an end to those regulations.
What he is doing is promoting his practice to the public , which, as I said, “used to be against the law”.
So there you have your book report off the top of my head. Go find the criticism that demonstrate I don’t know what I’m talking about. You are challenging me on the history of a profession I practiced for 40 years.

It is indeed over the counter but as of yesterday, to prevent hoarding and black-marketing, the tabs have been put under tight control of the Government at the factory level itself. A lot of arthritis patients are upset because it helps in some case.
