In July... of 2019. Hagerty considered it a coronation, as there appeared no one else of high stature running (such as freshman Congressman Mark Green, who was my personal choice, but bowed out of contention early). For some time, I had no personal preference (which most here will attest to being in the same). Dr. Sethi had been an alternative, but wasn’t considered much of a threat.

Sethi realized Hagerty was simply hiding behind an endorsement and decided to just go around and personally meet and greet the voters. He left such a warm and positive feeling that word-of-mouth spread around the state and he started to increase his standing in the polls. When Hagerty apparently had some private polling done to see he was slipping, he decided to go nuclear on the doctor. It has done a lot to turn off voters from Hagerty. When we started to take a closer look at Hagerty, this guy didn’t pass the smell test.

On paper, Hagerty looked like a credible endorsement, a businessman, rich and could self fund, Trump’s Ambassador to Japan. But, as I said above, this guy thinks he is royalty and shouldn’t soil himself by debating some “foreigner.” He’s done everything but call him racist names, and some of Hagerty’s supporters HAVE called him names.

If I had access to the President, I would’ve informed him of Hagerty’s record and his utter cowardice and have him rescind the endorsement and give it to Sethi. As I said above, when the endorsement was made, it looked like a cleared field for Hagerty and was designed to discourage anyone else. As we’ve seen, this was too early and too ill-advised to do. Obviously one goal of the President was to prevent a contested primary. Sometimes it’s unavoidable.

“A psychoanalytical theory, projection is the process whereby one subject believes they see attributes (both good and bad) in another. The theory views this tendency as a defense mechanism whereby unenviable or unpleasant traits, impulses or ideas are attributed to another. In this way, the projector is able to avoid the unpleasantness in themselves. However, the theory goes on to explain that in severe cases of projection, the condition of projection may degenerate into paranoid delusions to the point that the projector believes others are responsible for the projector’s problems and are secretly plotting against them.
The projection basically allows a subject to ignore faults within themselves.”

It’s OK, USS Alaska. I hear years and years of counseling will help you overcome this malady.

Trump endorsed Hagerty. So to use Trump as an example of why we should be voting for someone else is not a good argument.

Trump had more political experience than you think.

He has worked with politicians and political processes his whole life.
Trump was a regular at republican conventions. There are videos of him.
Trump was at one point involved in nuclear negotiations long before he ever thought about being a candidate.

Meanwhile there was an article to day that Manny’s campaign is full of never Trumpers.

You sure you know which one is the swamp creature?

If I am I’m in good company. Trump has strongly endorsed Hagerty. So has Trump Jr, and Mike Pence.

There was an article posted today on FR that said Manny’s campaign is staffed with never Trumpers.

The whole “Sethi campaign is Never Trumpers” has been thoroughly debunked on numerous prior threads, but we can certainly revisit the issue:

President Donal J. Trump’s Key Campaign Advisors For the Presidential Campaign in 2015/2016 Who Support Manny Sethi for Senate:

Former State Senator and Delegation Caucus Chairman to the 2016 National Republican Convention, Mae Beavers and husband Jerry Beavers

State Director, 2015/2016 Tennessee Trump for President and Metro Nashville City Councilman Robert Swope

5th Tennessee Congressional District Co-chairman Rick Williams and Connie Hunter

Tennessee Trump Campaign Upper Cumberland leader, Owen Burnette

Trump East Tennessee Regional Coordinator, Robin Flenniken

Upper East Tennessee Trump Campaign Coordinator, Kay White

Lincoln County, Mary Tackett

West Tennessee Regional Chairman for Trump Campaign in Tennessee for 2015/2016, Joe Coury

It also appears that 90% of the County Coordinators for the 2015/2016 Trump Campaign Organization are also for Sethi

Trump didn’t have a damn ounce of experience in politics

*************

What makes you think that? True he never held elective office
but that don’t make him ignorant of politics.

Trump also endorsed Mitt Romney, so what’s your point?

Hagerty’s entire campaign strategy appears to have been predicated on McConnell’s judges-for-endorsement deal with Trump. Once he discovered he was not going to waltz through to his self-entitled senate seat, Hagerty initiated one of the nastiest and dishonest campaigns in the nation.

Knowledgeable grassroot conservatives in Tennessee overwhelmingly support Dr. Sethi. The only question is whether the low-info, Establican and Democrat voters in the GOP open primary will outnumber the conservatives who did their homework.

Sounds like you should strive to get access. He needs honest, outspoken non-swamp people.

I’d think it’s never good a good idea to give out endorsements before a primary.

Would be nice to have access and/or be consulted. The trouble is getting good people to run (that either have money or can raise it). The Demonrats can bankroll anyone, given their limitless pockets. The more odious and vile the candidate is, the more the media and the base loves them. They know they’re not likely to ever be judged, especially if non-White.

Conversely, so many good people don’t want to run for the GOP, because they know they and their families will be gang-raped and lynched by the media and the pop culture/Twatterverse, et al. The treatment that the Palin and Trump families receive. Especially if they are not insiders. For most folks, there’s no way they want to put themselves and loved ones through that. It’s Satanic what they endure. It’s only gotten worse with each cycle. One reason why I believe another civil war is inevitable. Good people cannot continue to allow the degradation and destruction of our country by those countless evil people in power. A lot of those individuals are counting the days until they can be empowered to imprison and kill us en masse as the Nazis and Communists did, and still do.

Endorsements are a tricky business. Usually Presidents, Governors, party chairs, etc., don’t or shouldn’t give them out unless someone enters a race that is really, really bad. But the problem here is that it was done so early, virtually upon Lamar!’s announcement of retirement, and it was done before anyone else stepped up. It’s like being the first person to a job interview and being hired on the spot without bothering to see if anyone else is better for the job. Big mistake.

The fella who gave thousands of bucks to Gore, Willard the Rat, McQueeg... How much money did Dr. Sethi give to them, Danny ?

He endorsed Slick Willie Hagerty in July 2019, long before a non-Derp Stater stepped up.

BTW, why won’t Hagerty debate Dr. Sethi ? Why hasn’t President Trump been barnstorming the state for Hagerty ?

Hagerty IS the Never Trumper who lied to get his endorsement.

Not surprised at all. If anyone thinks that the old Establishment GOP is gone because Trump is President they are sadly mistaken.

They pour more effort into beating down non-Establishment primary challengers than they ever do fighting Democrats. And preventing Sethi from getting the nomination is an example.
