I stand for free Puerto Rico.

Viva independence for Puerto Rico. It is long overdue.

How about refuting it then instead of just saying "come on, man"? There are a thousand articles from liberal, moderate and conservative sources about this, both mainstream outlets and fringe blogs, take your pick. Here, have one from Breitbart:

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/11/05/majority-of-puerto-ricans-vote-in-favor-of-u-s-statehood/

Do you really think this is some myth? That Puerto Rico never voted in support of statehood in 2020 and everyone just made it up and they're all in on it?

It’s not at all clear that Puerto Rico would be a Democrat state, which is why both parties have steered clear of statehood forever. The Republican party in Puerto Rico has long advocated for statehood. The whole thing is a mess. Puerto Rico is beautiful, well at least before the hurricane, but has incredibly corrupt politics. But with Congress basically running the protectorate what do you expect?

My wife is PR and her family is a pretty even split. When it comes to people still on the Island they are pretty brainwashed by the Spanish media which is very anti Republican. Bet the farm this would mean 2 rat Senators and some rat House members.

I wish we could give Puerto Rico back to Spain, but Spain does not want it. We never should have invaded that sh*t hole in the first place. It reminds me of Iraq.

————-

Don’t think we every invaded it. We got it for winning the Spanish-American war. Think it’s the only one we still have after giving the Philippines independence in 1946... oh wait Guam.

With Guam’s large military (nominally conservative) presence, it could balance Puerto Rico... or no?

Congress has no sayso.

Before the commercial real estate developers and buyers show up, we should change the Spanish colonial slave name to reflect PR is no longer a Spanish/Portuguese territory but an American state. BLM gets the bonus of getting to go after the families of all the former slavers. PR laws will also have to change to reflect equal rights, but they’re probably not going to like surrendering their bigoted special privilege in law enforcement and license/permit matters against ‘mainlanders’ which has been so profitable for the corrupt. But if they want to jump, let them. It will be to their detriment. And there’s no guarantee that, like PRs who move to a state to become a politician, that mainlanders won’t move to PR to become a politician of the Republican sort. Hawaii is so bigoted it’s not worth vacationing there anymore so we can make PR the opposite of Hawaii. A playground for conservatives ! Come’on down and play if you dare, PR.

I don’t like using sarc tabs. I assume that people are smart enough to figure out sarcasm when they see it. But if I actually use a sarc tab, which I don’t like doing, at least notice its presence to avoid embarrassing comments like that.

Lord help us. This country is over if half of what democrats want go through. I’m sick by that election bill. They are trying to do a get around the filibuster by saying human right bills won’t be part of the filibuster.
