“Virginia Mathematics Pathway Initiative”

In the UK, the term ‘Pathway’ was (maybe still is) used as a term where old people are denied needed treatment and essentially put on a high-speed ‘pathway’ towards their grave.

“ Are they going to soon introduce 2+2=5?”

Done. Haven’t you read here where expecting a “correct” answer, or asking one to show one’s work is racist. Everything that is difficult for, or an inconvenience to blacks is now considered racist.

They're calling it "equity" but it's because they can't afford to hire capable instructors for all their schools that can teach advanced math.

The United States is overdue for certifying students who test out of courses. If they can learn it online from a better instructor, why stifle their progress in a sub-standard curriculum?

Private schools will become all the more popular and the public school system will become like the “inner city” system. Which for the most part has already happened. If I had to send my kids to school now.... we’d be looking into private school

Can you imagine the depth of unconscious racism in the proponents of this action? No Black children or Brown children are bright enough to excel in math so we must stop anyone from excelling in Math.
What a disgrace that people with so little intelligence, insight or ability to apply common sense are in charge. Premed, pre-dental students must have several higher math courses to apply for those college programs. The course must be taken sequentially and must start by 9th or 10th grade. Students of all colors are doctors & dentists and have successfully completed higher level math, college & doctoral level work.
A decision like this disenfranchises all children and is the most damaging to those children whose parents cannot obtain or are unaware that they can obtain the math courses for their child on line or in summer classes and thus prepare for college requirements.

Looks like a big opportunity to start advanced math courses outside the school system. Out of work math instructors, in person or remote, see the positive in this as in all things, there is a way to educate the children and make a buck.

One of my best friends is a black man who was valedictorian of his HS class. Are you trying to say that he could no have handled advanced Algebra or Calculus because he is black? That’s racist!

Harrison Bergeron:

“THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren’t only equal before God and the law.
They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking
than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the
211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the
United States Handicapper General.” — Kurt Vonnegut

This is on top of Virginia having one of the lowest rates of classroom instruction in the country.

  1. Buy a 1,800 sq ft house in Fairfax Co. for $500K
  2. Pay $950/mo. in property taxes to fund "great" Fairfax schools
  3. Critical race theory is taught ahead of math and reading, priceless.

It seems to me there is a mighty business opportunity coming to the forefront in education.

As schools continue to dumb down curriculums it would seem to me that two educational advances are surfacing. While not everyone can afford to either homeschool or send their child to private school is there a profitable way for parents to get their children educated in advanced studies?

Advanced studies picking up this slack that public schools are laying down? Those teachers who teach these advanced studies will be out of a job? There’s an opportunity here to save our children from a life of ignorance.

If you don’t want your children to be left behind, move out of Virginia.
