I’ve been pointing out for years that local real estate prices are no longer determined by the local investors/economy, it’s all driven by international investment now and the rents people pay leave the community/city.

And my contracting company at work has been let go. My contract at my job has been moved to India so now a significant cut of my paycheck every week is going to India. My option was to leave my job.

Americans are being bled dry.

You never really own a house anyway. You rent from the government in the form of property taxes.

You can be surrounded by bad neighbors no matter where you live. I think of people who buy expensive high-rise condos and end up living next door to a rapper.

Dave Ramsey points out that the cost of renting vs buying tends to even out over time. If rents go up, then more rental housing is built and rents decline.

As Thomas Sowell said, “There are no solutions, only trade-offs.” There are pros and cons for renting and for owning, but the idea that everybody should be a home owner is false and dangerous. Some people don’t have it in them to take care of a house.
