Is this why the Democrats want everyone in an Electric car , they can shut everyone down at the blink of an eye
I am convinced that if anyone created and tried to sell a simple, <$10K, ICE car with basic specifications and no electronics - government would NOT allow it.
Yeah - kind of like stealing your keys and grabbing your car too.
500 error code. LOL! I hate it when I depend on something that I can’t depend on. Wait until brandon has buhzillions of them out there lined up waiting for their turn at the charging station and the power goes off. Chickens, roosting. I did read somewhere yesterday that tesla was near the bottom of the list for reliability. Anyone? Bueller?
“The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.”
Mr. Scott
Battery cars are for kids to ride in the driveway 🤪
“Technology is going to be our prison walls.”
Absolutely, And we are happily imprisoning ourselves with it.
Many years ago, when I was working in a small town, one of the locals had an old VW with a toggle switch for the ignition and a push button for the starter. No key at all, since she never locked the car doors.
Along these lines, modern John Deere equipment is vulnerable to hacking via their “JDLink” API. Their equipment could potentially be disabled through a hack. Imagine this happening during harvest season.
opps.
Complexity does not equate to reliability.
Too clever by more than half.
Most cars now have keyless fobs for the door locks. 91% have even eliminated the key for ignition using a push button instead.
Rube Goldberg goes techie.
How about buy a car with a key that goes in the door lock?

Car does have a physical key, but people get use to the convenience of using their phone app to open the car. All works great until the central servers go belly up and can’t authenticate the phone app request to “Open the pod bay doors, Hal”.
“Although of course you can use a key to open the car too, the natural instinct of many Tesla drivers, who are buying one of the most high tech models in the market, is to rely on the technology.”
We have one of those. Now I’m wondering about backup for when the little battery in the fob goes dead.
I have two relatives who have this car - mostly to show off.
One got stuck in the middle of California - out of power - and couldn’t find an electric station - he is not able to drive all the way home w/0 “charging up.” Had to be towed, LOL.
The other one will be visiting from Northern California in a few weeks and is terrified of having to stop to charge up in some unknown place for a long period of time. She’s thinking of renting a gas-powered car for the trip.
I think I’ll stick with my old gas guzzler for a few more years. It’s paid off.
Ha, ha, ha. Just like AppleFanboys are always downloading the latest Mac or iPhone update or app; only to find out later that being first in line is not a good idea.
Never update until 48 hours — by that time you will hear if some TWOT at TWOT HQ mistyped some code and sent out a bomb.
