“Pretty much why the US Military doesn't really use fully automatic rifles anymore.”

I have always been thankful the Germans adopted the Sturmgewehr 44.

If they had stuck with bolt action rifles they would have won the war.

Funny how I can make a very nice group with a Glock 18 (full automatic). It just takes practice in controlling recoil, something I have developed over THOUSANDS of rounds of practice.

The Marines have gone back to full auto with the M27 IAR. Every member of a Marine infantry squad is to be re-equipped with one.

The SCAR used by SOCOM is also full-auto.

The Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program to replace all the typical infantry squad’s weapons is all full auto capable weapons.

Turns out trigger training is a better method than a stupid three round burst. :P

“We have a problem on our hands”.

You sure do, it’s called bad behavior.

Why would anyone want an automatic as expensive as ammo is?

“Were there any prosecutions for Federal firearms law violations?”

Not if the perps were illegal aliens. SPD would just cut them loose instead of turning them over the bad old meanies from ICE who’d deport these brigands back whence they came.

“The Sacramento City Council passed an ordinance in 1985 prohibiting city police and other employees from asking about individuals’ immigration status. Steinberg said the city will not reverse course and will remain a sanctuary city, even under the threat of missing out on federal aid. He said the city will begin assessing how much federal revenue is at stake.”

“Turns out trigger training is a better method than a stupid three round burst. :P”

A three round burst capability on a pistol can be quite handy. At the proper range in the proper hands it can deliver a classic drill of two rounds to the chest and throat with a final round to the head.

Centering the pistol on the solar plexus and pulling the trigger and following the recoil puts one in the pump, one in the throat, and a final round in the noggin.

If they have 33 round mags then 33 rounds.

Full auto with a pistol is merely an increased number of misses per minute.

One of my favorite handguns is a Taurus 45 ACP. Last shoot I went to. 10 shots in 10 seconds I hit 8 head shots at 25 yards. Full autos are a waste of shells. My long guns are either lever action or bolt. You only need one bullet to hit a target.

So, let’s see how many of these felons get charged, convicted and sentenced for class III violations and actually serve their full sentence. Any bets?

The left hates guns until a member of a protected class commits a gun crime, then it’s all about white supremacy.

“...fully automatic-capable handguns...”

That’s a very broad and vague statement. Capable of being modified to fire full-auto or already having been modified to do so?

That very much depends on the pistol itself. The few full auto versions of the FN High Power ended up being chest (maybe), sky, sky and nobody bought them.

The M4 carbine has the 3 round burst fire feature. It’s successor, the M4A1 carbine has a full auto select fire position instead of the burst fire feature.

The services found the ratcheting mechanism feature of burst fire to be unduly complicated and maintenance intensive, expensive, and it unduly affected trigger pull quality.

A better solution was thought to be more training with appropriate uses of full auto fire and the enforcement of ammo expenditure discipline.
