DFL stands for the “Democratic-Farmer-Labor” party, local to Minnesota.
None of us should have had to waste time trying to figure it out or look it up. Poor writing.

Lincoln attended these ABC, or “blab” schools with his older sister, Sarah. Lincoln later attended a school kept by Caleb Hazel in Kentucky.
Like many on the frontier, Lincoln’s formal education was extremely limited. Lincoln later estimated that “the aggregate of all his schooling did not amount to one year.” He compensated for his meager education self-directed learning activities in reading, writing, and math.
