My company has gone to a hybrid model.

Elon Musk does not want ti do hybrid. His company. His rules. I agree with him. Maybe it'll work for Twitter or Facebook. But not for Tesla or SpaceX.

An excellent example. Homeschooling can work, but only if the parents dedicate their lifestyle to it.

Most people don’t have the discipline to Homeschool.

Some friends do it, and the most common path is Mom and maybe the older kids teach. You have to make an effort to have some social networking with others, and be smart and dedicated enough to teach.

How many do you think do that wel

I have known a few really successful persons in my life-—many in auto racing.

ONLY workaholics can be that successful.

He is a visionary. He'll get bored spending too much time with a family. That's why he is not married.

I think he means “not working from home”.

I “worked” from home a bit and the distractions and temptations made it tough to concentrate on the “job”.

Good thinking, Tennessee. He’s also getting the nation ready to face the brunt of Biden’s economy to come. God help us.

MUSK got LOANS.

HE PAID BACK EVERY PENNY—EARLY-—WITH ALL INTEREST DUE.

IN 2021, HE PAID OVER $16 BILLION IN TAXES.

Anyone else we know who can match that????

Well if your employee you should show up at the office. It’s an atmosphere generally condusive for work. Not sitting behind a computer chomping on Doritos in your Pj.s

You have to make an effort to have some social networking with others, and be smart and dedicated enough to teach.

It can work where you have a parent who teaches math, the other one who teaches English. You get the idea. Then you have the fathers coach sports. So it works quite well. It's like a class, maybe 10-15 of them together.

HOW MANY rockets did NASA BRING BACK TO EARTH & LAND FOR RE-USE???

NONE, IIRC.

Musk has such landing on barges in the ocean.

NASA just used the ocean part.....

“Methinks this Twitter purchase brought ALL the Long Knives out.”

The icing on the cake was him saying he would vote republican.

The Rats must feel about Musk the way we feel about Cheney and Mittens.

I've had the opposite experience. I work from home and find myself working through supper and late into the night. It wears me down.

“Elon has amassed this fortune by being stupid?”

Not only is he smart, but he works his ass off... and expects his underlings to do the same.

Reminds me a lot of Trump.

Fine, Elon. Provide us with the COTS technology to actually reduce carbon emissions — not substitutions like your overpriced cars, but actual technology to scrub it out at the stack and the tailpipe, and I’m willing to consider that. Until then, NO SALE!

TOM PETERS made the case for the “ELECTRONIC COTTAGE” decades ago. If all your boss wants from you is your WORK PRODUCT, working from home keeps millions of cars - and their emissions - off the roads. I thought that was a GOOD THING?

I’m not disagreeing with ‘his company, his rules’. I’m just saying he was wrong about people working from home are only pretending to work. I’m sure that is true for some, but people also pretend to work in the office as well. The key is to hire people who will WORK.

I don’t know all of the jobs that are involved in keeping Tesla and SpaceEx running. The manufacturing jobs obviously require people to be onsite. The administrative jobs, like A/P, A/R, purchasing, etc., might be best onsite or might work better hybrid. I don’t know because I’m not in those companies. I don’t know if Musk knows or not. However, as you said, his company, his rules. I’m just pointing out he might be wrong.

i’m sure his “Top” talent, “Individual Contributors” and “Fellows”, will all work from where ever they want...

the rest of the bunch not so much, we’ll see you in the office boys

Sure...
Like anybody with "real" talent would choose (on the basis of having to work "in" the office, plant, or laboratory) to not work for Elon Musk:

Sure!

A few things I don’t miss about the office.

1) hours commuting
2) sitting in pointless meetings, town halls and training sessions which prevent me from doing real work.
3) people constantly coming to my cubicle to ask stupid questions because they are too lazy to figure it out themselves
4) watching everything you say and to whom
5) working alongside people with huge chips on their shoulders
