Not anymore. Tesla is in Austin, TX. SpaceX is officially HQ’s in Hawthorne, CA, but his office (and home shack) is in Brownsville, TX.
Austin is the home of Tesla.
These fired “woke” employees are a perfect fit for Bezos’ Blue Origin.

I’d like to know who the employees were and what positions they held. I’m betting the majority of them were in the HR, IT and PR departments. I doubt any self-respecting rocket scientist or engineer would lead such an effort.

Elon knows the ugly economic reality of the deepening recession will result in even woke companies shedding the unproductive and moderately productive employees while retaining the loyal high performers. The first companies to see the storm and take effective action to become lean and mean are those that will survive and prosper most during the recovery. Those who attempt to carry the anchors contributing only overhead will find themselves sinking fast unless they are deemed “too big to fail” and bailed out by the federal government.
The good news about a deep recession is companies will be forced to focus only on suppliers employees, customers, and activities contributing directly and immediately to the bottom line. If you are from what the woke call “a historically disadvantaged group”, and are a high performer, your career will prosper. If you are from a historically disadvantage group and constantly disrupt the productive people by playing the victim card, you will find yourself on the street. If being addressed by the gender pronouns you prefer that day is more important than getting a last minute order out the door, you’ll find yourself on the street. If you are self employed as a consultant whose expertise is conducting social justice seminars inside client companies, you’ll probably find the diversity directors and VP’s are suddenly emailing you for help in a job search, instead of extending consulting contracts.
A deep recession will make the surviving companies lean, mean, no nonsense, fighting machines. Sadly government will most likely pork up during the coming lean years instead of also sending the unproductive to the street.
