“Russia would need Lukashenko’s cooperation to launch a second attack from the north. Not sure that would be forthcoming.

Russia has moved some assets back into Belarus and has recently launched some air attacks from there.”

Noted. Thanks.

Russia is taking over another part of Ukraine with little consequence except for loss of young military members who needed combat experience anyway (thus in some ways a win for Russia).

Russia is making hand over fist with the increased energy prices thanks in part to Brandon and in part to Putin's actions. Thus a win for Russia.

Everybody has forgotten that Russia "annexed" Crimea and now isn't facing blowback from it. Thus a win for Russia.

Looks to me like Russia is slowly building its empire, making money from it, and doing it in a fashion that's much friendlier to Russia than when they started building it in 1939 and 1940 taking over Finland and trying to take over more of Poland than Germany was.

The way Russia built its empire in WW2 was much more costly to Russia than the way they're slowly building it now. You don't have to be a Russia cheerleader to appreciate that what they're doing seems to be working for them.

Ping, and pleas ping anyone you like.

Eventually, someone will respond to the article instead of Cranked's thread hijacking This is supposed to a conservative discussion forum, not a second rate 4chan.

The long term economic outlook for Russia is pretty grim as the world adapts and cuts Russia out of global markets.

This has the potential to affect both Russia's regional status among allies and strong business partners, and its international standing as a nuclear power.

“North America ... will even more actively reorient itself towards renewable energy sources”

blah, blah, blah renewables.

There is only one renewable that actually works (nuclear). Until this is being seriously discussed, this is just more happy BS.

Question: how did Germany’s reorientation towards renewables work out?

Current events on the battlefield say otherwise.

So, you have been on the battlefield personally?

If not, you are only going by what the media has been telling you. Their record for reporting honestly has not been too stellar, in case you haven't been paying attention.

Since the government lies, and the media covers for the government lies when the Democrats are in control of it, what makes you believe what they are telling you?

Ukraine's government has no qualms about lying either, as they have already proven several times over.

But let's say for now that Ukraine is really doing what we are being told. Then why is Zelelnskyy telling other nations (read as U.S.) to strike Russia with a nuclear weapon? That sounds like a man who is desperate, not a man that is leading his nation to a successful counter-attack that is supposedly causing quite the consternation in Russia. I mean if Russia is about to fall, as the claims currently being made are projecting, why would he want to further expand the war into a nuclear event?

You pathetic people supporting this conflict, are apparently incapable of actually exercising critical thought process. Instead you just gobble up what you are told, without questioning what you are being told at all. Because what you are being told, is exactly what you want to hear.

That is either a display of ignorance or laziness. For nothing else could explain why you believe what you are being told by entities that are known for their lying, but this time you are confident they are telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Therefore, it is safe to trust them as to what you are being tols.

The only battle that matters in the war presently is being fought in Bakhmut. And, the Ukrainians, as is the case in any real battle, are getting their asses kicked. The battles Ukrainians "win" are the ones over ghost towns and rural areas the Russians have pulled out from. And, they end up losing thousands of men in the process.

A little reality for you, Neocon Jr:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pONjlORXdFQ

Update on Russian operations in Ukraine for October 5, 2022

- Latest US aid package falls far short of replacing steep Ukrainian losses amid continued offensives;
- Ukraine’s offensive has limited capabilities, will not achieve “victory” over Russian forces in territory deemed “Ukrainian” by Kiev;
- Ukrainian offensive is an “all-or-nothing” proposition, hoping to achieve psychological and political gains toward ending the conflict in ways Ukrainian military force cannot;
- Western analysts celebrate the psychological impact the offensive is having on pro-Russian media, pundits, and even prominent members of Russian society;
- In reality, Ukraine will be left overextended and vulnerable just as Russia’s 300,000-strong mobilization begins shaping the battlefield.

Both of your accounts spamming the same thread? did I hit a nerve? Thank you for the Badge of Honor.

Since you are too busy spamming to pay attention to the content, this is not about the battlefront.

This is about the Russian economic outlook.

TLDR: the Russian economy has a high risk of collapsing and staying down for years.

But that's above your pay.

.......”Pathetic people supporting this conflict, are apparently incapable of actually exercising critical thought process. Instead they just gobble up what they are told, without questioning what they’re being told at all. Because what they’re being told, is exactly what they want to hear”.......

This comes to mind often these days......”And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, BUT the end is not yet” Matthew 24:6

Ukraines conflict is just one of the catalists that is shaping up th rest of the Internaional world alliances for what will in the future happen. Ukraine is never mentioned Biblically .

What we seehappening is the arranging of the chess board so to speak.

Cranked and Kazan never fail to amuse me with their choice of sources of information.

Now the source is: Alexander Mercouris - former English barrister who was dibarred in 2012 after disciplinary tribunal found he'd brought the profession into disrepute. The guy found new job by making himself "an expert" in all things Russian, and in particlar has became a regular guest on Sputnik TV - Russian state-owned foreign language TV channel, that was banned from EU airwaves following the invasion of Ukraine for spreading Kremlin propaganda. Yeah this guy is credible source indeed.

Funny how both cranked and Kazan apparently believe noone will check their sources.

This is about the Russian economic outlook.

Good point. So to add some info relevant to the topic. Russia international monetary reserves have decreased by about 100 bln USD since their invasion of Ukraine in February (from 643 bln USD on February 18th to 540 bln USD on September 30th). They decreased by about 25 bln USD during the month of Spetember, so the pace of Russia losing its reserves is definitely increasing.

All this data comes from the official internet service of the Central Bank of Russia: http://www.cbr.ru/eng/hd_base/mrrf/mrrf_7d/.

So much for Russia supposed ability to replace lost revenues from the West with export to China and India. And it is going to get worse. If the world economy really slips into recession, what happens then? One of the first consequences of recession is sharp decline in demand for basic raw materials.

So if Russia really tries to ignite global recession that's purely suicidal move - they will be hit hardest. For once their economy is already in deep recession (we can debate whether Russia GDP will contract by 5, 7 or 10% this year but even the smallest number is very bad - and much worse than in Western Economies) and if recession really hits European Union or US, Russia wll be hit even harder.

The original forecast was 20% contraction then reviewed to 9,6%, then to 4,8%, then to 2,9%.
There is no way that Russia is going to contract worse compared to the West.

According to Russia official Federal State Statistics Service Russia GDP shrank by 4,4% during 2nd quarter of 2022. During the same period of time GDP of European Union has grown by 0,8% (according to Eurostat).

Those are hard facts, not some forecasts. So yeah, Russia is doing far worse than the West, even if you believe their official data.
