The point being a lot of the knee-jerk admiration of Putin is solely based on hatred of Biden and the Democrats. Not all of it, but a substantial part of it. There was a saying in France before the war, “Better Hitler than Blum.”. Leon Blum was a Jewish socialist politician who was once French Premier. Blum actually did survive the war.

Because you are then forced to admit that the proxy war is what was wanted all along, and for that proxy war to be waged in Ukraine.

That's crap. We didn't want that war, and it has benefitted nobody except perhaps the owners of some coal mines in Europe.

proxy war was not something that Putin wanted.

Well of course he didn't. He wanted to go barreling into a neighboring country, conquer it, and absorb it into his own without anyone in the rest of the world raising an eyebrow. Why wouldn't he prefer that result? I imagine Germany wasn't a fan of the "proxy war" when the US was supplying critical war materials to the UK and the USSR either.

Every bully would prefer that nobody stands up to them.

The Helsinki Commission Chairman and Co-Chairman are selected by the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House and rotate their positions between the chambers with each new Congress, or every two years. The current Chairman is Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland. Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee co-chairs the commission.

Previous Commission chairs have included Representatives Dante B. Fascell of Florida, Alcee L. Hastings of Florida, Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, and Christopher H. Smith of New Jersey; and Senators Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Alfonse M. D’Amato of New York, Dennis D. DeConcini of Arizona, Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado, and Sam Brownback of Kansas. Senators Claiborne Pell of Rhode Island and Bob Dole of Kansas previously served as co-chairs.

I submit that this is not Russia against Ukraine, it’s Russia against NATO. It always has been. A proxy war of superpowers, at our expense.

I try to call “balls and strikes” with Ukraine. I am not a fan of our approach to it, and I still hope somehow there can be a negotiated settlement that forever puts the issue to bed. Yeah, Russia could lose this round, but how do you know they won’t keep trying every 5-10 years with a different leader. This is one area I do think Trump would have made a dramatic difference, in that I would think his focus would be on getting a settlement that works in the long term.

Your links on breaking apart Russia are all from months after the invasion, and when Putin or his mouthpieces in Russia were bragging about not even stopping at the Ukrainian border. So of course there were some saying at that point that Russia falling apart might be the only way to end the war.

But you and Putin are both reversing cause and effect. Nobody of any consequence was considering breaking Russia apart prior to this war, so that can't possibly be the excuse for the invasion. And if Russia announced tomorrow that it was leaving Ukraine and going home, nobody of any consequence would be pushing for it to be broken apart.

I knew you had exaggerated: You said “tear apart Russia.” The link you provided was for some panel discussion on the DE-COLONIZATION of Russia; in other words, foreign countries that Russia has “colonized” should have the right to break away from that arrangement, just as the eastern European countries of Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the three Baltic countries, etc. jumped at the chance to get away from the Soviet Union. There was and is no threat to Russia itself.

But, do you know who is the most likely to “tear apart” Russia? China.

Thanks. Looks like these ideas came about “after” putin invaded and bombed Ukraine. So he has a lot to worry about now LOL

he is losing in Ukraine and may lose more than that.

russia is the largest country in the world. he was foolish to try and expand it, imo

Let’s send more money, and weapons to Ukraine, so Democrats, and Republicans can launder more money, and Zelenskyy and his buddies can sell all those missiles on the black market. There really isn’t any need to monitor all this cash and military paraphernalia to see where it actually goes. We can trust them all. Their word is gold.

Thanks, and as you CLEARLY imply, this bunch is TOTALLY LINKED to governments. Hopefully the Ukraine Cheerleaders will understand that it’s not necessary to make up stuff about Western intentions to rule over everyone, as the West has no problem with publicizing them for all to see.

No no no. We don't want to "tear apart Russia". We just want to give a whole lotta payback for American deaths due to Commie/Soviet/Russia interference from 1946-present.

Tens of THOUSANDS of Americans and NATO/SEATO/ANZAC forces died in various wars directly or indirectly by the Rus.

Paybacks are hell, Putin. Deal with it.

“I knew you had exaggerated: You said “tear apart Russia.” The link you provided was for some panel discussion on the DE-COLONIZATION of Russia”

Feel free to call dismemberment of a country what you wish, but don’t be surprised if they fight back.

...and fight back with some pretty big firecrackers.

By all means audit the aid, but that is a different question than is it good policy to support Ukraine against Russian aggression.

That’s an exactly what Ukraine is doing in face of Russian aggression. Shouldn’t you be on their side then?
