That makes it the school’s responsibility to protect them while they are there.

That is the point of the gun free zones at schools — to get your kids killed.
Politicos don’t send their kids to such.

No amount of gun control, no amount of mental health care is ever going to fix our problems in this country. We are too far gone. We’ve got generations of disgruntled nut jobs roaming loose with “rights.” We have open schools, open borders, and open courts with revolving doors.
Best to just learn how to rapidly defend and protect yourself in these settings. Best to pull your kids out of unprotected schools. Best to turn back to God and be prepared at any time to be in the wrong place at the right time.
The shooting most certainly is a family's worst nightmare.
An even worse nightmare is blaming the gun instead of the shooter.
Joe Biden thinks it is easier to eat ice cream and talk about taking guns away from law abiding citizens instead of taking them away from criminals, or looking at associated mental health issues and proposing remedies to identify and treat people resorting to gun violence.

But the thing is ...these people are likely not psychotic. Or mentally ill.
They ARE disgruntled. Disgruntled is worse — it’s an anger that cannot be fixed or remediated. It’s a lifetime of a sense of victimhood rubbed into a spoiled brat who has no feelings or moral underpinnings. It’s someone who feels the world has been “unfair” to them, so they’re going to get retribution. It’s more of a world outlook than a psychiatric disorder — although, perhaps we need to create a screening of some kind that could identify these disgruntled maniacs before they strike.
I see psychiatric patients and many are decent average people with an organic illness. I hate to see them maligned. My patients are AFRAID of these people and it triggers their anxiety something terrible.
I was wondering why they did not name the person. I thought it was because the shooter was black. Now we know it was because the person is trans.
We're overdue to ban Trans flags based on the actions of this mentally ill shooter.
