Guess what? All the water in the world was someone’s toilet water once upon a time.

How much water does a Aircraft carrier need to carry for the 5000 plus sailors? None! Why because they convert sea water to fresh water (this is the same with cruise ships). Too bad California is not next to a large body of water that they could use the same technology for their three largest urban areas (San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco).

Rain water has been evaporated, not filtered. That being said, it contains a condensation nucleus (dust, sulfuric acid, whatever). And is not fluoridated, so the same precautions as with well water apply.

Guess desalination plants are to complicated for California to understand.

Had to look twice. At first I thought this was from The Bee.

Glad it’s CA and not here.

My Florida neighborhood used to be based on wells and septic tanks. Wells have to be at least 75 feet from on-site waste treatment areas by law.

The county ran water lines into the neighborhood about 20 years ago.

I drank well water until about 10 years ago. I stopped because the water was too hard. It now has too much iron taste as well.

In the 1970’s Venice Fl had a tertiary wastewater treatment plant that turned wastewater into water that was of higher quality than that coming from the deep wells that it was drawing water from. It was proposed to recycle this water into the incoming well stream where it would have been diluted and mixed into the water treatment stream that all water goes through. The idea of mixing treated water into “drinking water” failed to pass. They use it to water golf courses instead. The issue is really this, we have too many contaminants in the water supply sources. Water is requiring more and more treatment to make it drinkable. Population increases have put even more pressures on the system. Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends. Now is the past repeating itself.

Leftists have been whining about the world running out of clean water for decades.

Niagara Falls - 85,000 cu ft / sec
Inga Falls - 910,000 cu ft / sec
Victoria Falls - 38,430 cu ft / sec
Livingston, Chute de - 885,000 cu ft / sec

etc.

Just another leftist scare tactic.

Article about Israeli reuse of wastewater for agriculture:

Hopefully, in California the pharmaceuticals in the waste water will be removed by reverse osmosis.

Well, that has been happening hee for a very long time.

Kingsport treast sewage and sends it back to the holston River. Downstream, Morristown drinks the Holston river water.

It would be less costly to simply build an appropriate number of reservoirs to capture rainwater. And desal plants for the more arid regions near the Pacific.

I doubt the ruling elite will be drinking wastewater, or eating bugs, or giving up their gas-powered cars.

California Proposes Turning Toilet Wastewater into Drinking Water
Decades ago (1970's) the wastewater plant in South Lake Tahoe, Cal (STPUD AKA stupid) did just that.

They had their treated water in the lobby you could drink.

I used to work on the “septic” side of a metropolitan water and sewer department. This makes a great “eww” story but this has been happening via technology filtration for centuries, and where do you think that p!ss on the tree goes on your yearly hunting trip? Hint: natural watershed filtration.

It’s not like your pee goes to a special hidey space never to be encountered again.

Figures. I think they proposed this before and of course people rejected it, so now they try again. 🙄
