Barbara Lee, who is almost a normal person for a Democrat, is expected to fill the seat that’s supposed to go to a black woman. Adam Schiff, who is running for the seat really wanted Feinstein to last until next year so he wouldn’t have to run against an incumbent.

I seen her over the last few weeks, and assumed she died already but was simply propped up to cast her vote.
She can still serve in the Senate. Her staff can handle the duties that are a challenge for a relatively inactive person and she can be wheeled onto the floor for votes.
Even dead she has to have a more functional brain than Senator Festerman.
