I have turned government alerts off, but I understand that alerts from the president cannot be turned off.
This reminds me of 1984.
Has anyone asked what the smartphone does when it receives the signal? Does it send your location and the unique identification of your smartphone? Since no one is talking about that, I assume it’s true.

Yes, lets all calm down and take a deep breath. The EAS test is final prep for what’s to come. Hint, its not going to kill you.

If it’s a text alert as it says, doesn’t matter if your phone’s off. When you turn your phone back on it will then pop up.

The tin foil hat crowd is strong around these parts lately. Some of these same posters were claiming that the EAS was going to be used on/about 2021/01/21 to signal that President Trump was going to be retained in power. When that didn't happen, they just moved on to the next conspiracy theory.

I think your microwave would work to block that signal, not sure though. Easy enough to test. Put a cell phone in the microwave and try to call it/

Thanks for the ping. I’ve set my alarm to forewarn my mother a few minutes ahead of time. Hopefully, this will minimize the risk of her having a heart attack.

I’ve set my alarm to forewarn my mother .. Not a trivial thing, especially as her sole caretaker.
Mine's 91, and without forewarning this could easily be traumatic.
