I have read a bit about the Glock Switch. It does do what they say it does: convert a semi-automatic Glock into a fully automatic pistol. Having said that, I would rather a person shoot at me with a Glock switch than a Glock set at semi-automatic. The recoil that is generated from a machine pistol makes the pistol very difficult to hit anything. I am sure that with the proper training, a person could learn how to control the recoil and could get quite good at shooting it. But it would require a lot of practice and a lot of ammunition in that practice; something that the gangbangers don't do. So in a gang shooting, I feel that the bystanders are in more danger than the targets. "Spray and pray" is the phrase I would use.

In the 80s, I was in a Marine unit that several times got a lot of ammunition and could not turn it back to the ammo dump. This was during the same period when the Corps was converting from M16A1s to M16A2s. The A1 was capable of fully automatic fire and the M2s were capable of burst firing (three shots with one trigger pull). At that time I was really accurate with the M16. As such, I tried comparing my ability in all three: semi, burst and fully automatic. With a bipod, I could control the rifles in all three mods. From the off hand position, the burst and full auto were basically a waste of ammo (The first round went where I wanted it and the rest went "high and to the right."). After shooting a few magazines in burst mode or full automatic, I would go back to semi-automatic, because I wanted to hit what I was shooting at.

I read somewhere that it requires thousands of rounds to train someone to accurately shoot in full automatic mode and from my experience I believe it.
