They have zero guts.

They made that pretty clear when the refused to even consider election fraud by denying Trump's plea, even further when they ignored the Texas suit. The three ingrates that Trump fought so hard for showed their deep state colors pretty quickly.

which makes me wonder just how serious some of the alleged opponents of ObamaCare really are.

Really? Even after we held Both Houses and the Presidency and still they refused to repeal it, after promising for years they would if only they had all three? Yep I am not so inclined to wonder at all.

In this case your recollection is incorrect. Here is a portion of the findings in the Supreme Courts final opinion.

I may be getting confused with how the legal people do their business. I thought the holding was that the case was dismissed for lack of standing. Everything else is just an opinion.

But looking at it on wikipedia, it looks like they have included the opinions and called it a "holding."

Meh. I don't like how courts do their business anyway, and so far as i'm concerned, this idea that blacks couldn't be citizens is demonstrably incorrect, even if a court says otherwise.

In any case, thanks for setting me straight.

If the opinion is part of the holding, Dred Scott vs Sanford is simply incorrect.

That's ludicrous on its face. The power to levy taxes is inherent in any form of government. You're suggesting we should have a jury trial for every tax bill that is distributed to U.S. citizens? LOL.

I think it should be very hard to get taxes out of people by force of law, and i've been told that before Tax authorities had their own special courts, they tended to lose cases.

Taxation is slavery, and 10% is tolerable, but beyond that you are intruding on people's lives.

I’m sure he did, so if he didn’t repent, he is without excuse.

OK, that’s fine. But your 10% figure is totally arbitrary ... hence the need for sovereign governments to have the authority to establish and collect taxes in the first place. Maybe my cap is 5% — or 20%. No society can exist with that kind of arbitrary and capricious approach to taxation.

The intent of the Senators and Congressmen who passed Medicare in 1965 was for it to serve as a wedge to wreck the existing system, and they have (finally) come close to victory.

If that was really their intent in 1965, it wouldn't have taken almost 60 years to get to this point.

And they could have done it much faster by coupling the establishment of Medicare with a change in the tax code that eliminated the preferential tax treatment for employer-paid health insurance.

Not at all. God only asks for 10%. The government is certainly not worth more.

The legal eagles rate Scott v. Sanford as the worst ruling the Supreme Court ever made. Tend to agree with them. OBTW. agree with you on the verbage of the XIV Amendment. There were several way it could have been worded that would have achieved the desired results without giving unlicensed birth rights to aliens 150 years after the fact.
