I grew up in a household with one TV and with a father who liked to watch WW2 movies, and TV shows such as “Combat!” and “Twelve O’Clock High” so even as a youngster I was aware of a great struggle that went on not long before I was born and that we were the good guys in it. It was a short hop from there to learning about the Holocaust when I was older.

We don’t have those kinds of historical references in popular culture anymore. Today’s historical knowledge is a combination of garbage and blissful ignorance.

I have read that their government took all the long guns out of the hands of their citizens a few months before the massacre. This is similar to how the US pilots were disarmed just a few months before the 911 massacre. How badly are the governments compromised?
