In Florida, it requires a 60% vote to amend the constitution, it was 50% but a “Constitutional Amendment” was voted in that changed that to 60% a few years ago.

Personally I’m a daily cannabis user so I approve of them legalizing it as do 67% of Floridians.

THC is a chemical that can be measured in the blood in the same was as alcohol.

If it keeps them from having to pay claims, the insurance companies will develop the technology for easy and accurate measurement of THC levels in the blood.

Who do you funded development of the Breathalyzer? And basically have them, and the training in their use, to police departments?

Marijuana can show up in your blood for 30 days if you’re a regular user. Just because it show up in your blood doesn’t mean you were high at the time. That is the problem.

State constitutions should not be amended by direct referendum. Not at 50%, not at 60%, not at 75%

I can’t believe they would make this a constitutional amendment. We need to be turning back the laws, legalizing pot around the country, such a disaster.

Ya can't because there is no pass/fail field sobriety test for THC.

the a$$holes will claim they only took one toke or havent had any thing today.

the argument for pot legalization rests on the dumb ass argument that booze is bad too. If your neighbor shots your dog can you shoot his kid because well, hes shooting animals? you can shoot people because your neighbor is an ass so you want to be one too?

“How do you measure it though for blood content? Wouldn’t matter at work, because a positive is a positive, but what about driving under the influence? How would that work?”

This has been a problem/issue since the mid/late 1960’s, when a major weekly news magazine had cover pages showing US Navy deck hands using drug hand signals on a US Carrier underway in the Nam era.

Alcohol and certain CNS drugs could/can be detected and measured after urine or blood tests were taken.

No one then nor now could know if a user was impaired via any blood levels.

In twenty 10 years, tops, the same politicians who want it legalized, now will be calling it a public health crisis, all so they can both tax it and send the trial lawyers after it.

Perhaps, but that is never going to change, in Florida, if you put on the ballot an amendment to only allow the state legislature to amend the constitution, it would lose overwhelmingly, and Florida is an increasingly Red State and I’m a Republican and I would vote against that amendment.

If the GOP knew how to conduct political war they would make damn sure this prop was on the primary ballot along with any abortion prop. So far they have not figured this out.

Thanks for posting this reality re measuring pot use.

“The presence of alcohol in sufficient quantities in the blood is enough to prove impairment.

Marijuana, however, wears off. The presence of biometric markers in the blood DO NOT prove impairment.

However, I have faith that the powers that be will be able to invent an objective test that shows “marijuana impairment.”

objective test to see if someone is high you say?? wave a bag of cheetos around in front of them and see if they can follow it.. literally. open the bag, if they eat the whole bag, they’re high.
