“It doesn’t matter if someone is a plant or not, you can either answer the question or you can’t.”
That’s true. I recall that when Sarah Palin was being interviewed very easily on during that campaign. A lib reporter asked her if she believed in “American Exceptionalism”. She took too much time to reply. And when she did reply, it was weak and not really an answer.
I’m one of her biggest fans, and have been since the beginning, but I thought she should’ve not skipped one second before declaring, “Yes!”
Of course, the reporter was trying to set her up. Any answer, yes or no, would have led to a follow-up to make her look bad. But still you have to be prepared to give a strong response.
Yup. It would have been more useful had it not tried to do so much, instead just focusing on one thing. It is a very wordy amendment, and not easily discernible strictly from the verbiage.
It has given us the "incorporation doctrine" which forces rules binding the Federal government onto the states, many misapplied, like bans on Religion expression by a state government. In 1787, there were still some state governments that had officially sanctioned state religions.
The 14th amendment is a mess, and it is responsible for a lot of the idiocy we deal with nowadays.
