Shut up!

I envy you, but in the good kind of way.

I have a TAPE of his Christmas album. Does that count?

Stan died before I could see his orchestra, and before I got into him. It’s one of my big misses in life (along with not seeing Keith Moon, John Bonham, or Hendrix live).

I DID catch an all-Kenton performance by a college jazz band in NYC that was spectacular.

NYC is a “Sanctuary” for illegal aliens.

Nothing to say really.

Either you are, or you are not.

Yep. And the occupants were loaded onto busses and immediately escorted to the County line where the next County did the same. All the way to Cook County as I understand things.

The time I saw him (can’t locate the exact info.) it was part of a scheduled tour of several big bands. Glenn Miller (with surviving drummer leading), Woody Herman, Si Zentner and others. Stan Kenton and the rest added some local musicians to the lead ones traveling. This was at places like Eastland Mall in a suburb outside of Detroit.
I knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so see the bands of the passing era.

I have relayed this to many people regarding live bands, but it can apply to almost anything.

When I started seeing bands live in the 80s, I complained that the The Greats were gone…The Who with Moon, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Kenton, and so on.

As I whined and complained, I got to see Van Halen, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Four Tops and other legends at Live Aid in Philadelphia, Yes, ELP, Joe Pass, Buddy Rich, Sarah Vaughan, Rush, Tony Bennett, ZZ Top, Steely Dan, and other bands that have since lost key members.

Today when I tell the youths about my concert experience, they’re like “dude…you got to see ____?!?”

The moral of the story is, seize the day. Ignore what people tell you about “there are no good bands left.” Go see that band you like. Go to a concert. Enjoy life. And 30 years from now, YOUR ticket stubs of concerts with “no good bands” will make that group of youths envy you.

Yes, the greats may be gone. But new greats are right around the corner. To wit: we wandered around in the desert after Reagan…

Greenville, Delaware is a very nice place.

Ask Joe Biden, he might remember.

Excellent advice.
Despite the music industry being dead and their promotion system gone, I hear talented performers who will probably be around a long time.

I saw live-—Bob Dylan early all acoustic (introducing It Ain’t Me Babe and other new songs) and then twice in the first ever electric tours complete with booing, then the 1974 comeback tour. Saw the Beatles, Cream’s first US tour, Jimi Hendrix, Mountain, Canned Heat, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin and more.

To a migrant, “Newark” sounds like “New York”.

New Jersey, the one place where illegals would improve the hoods. (Sorry, I’ve taken the train from Trenton to NYC and it looks bad!)

We have the highest median income in the United States, some very nice towns, over 20% of the state is a single pine forest, over 40 miles of the Appalachian trail cross the beautiful hills of the NW part of the state, beautiful coastline (seriously) and you judge us by what you see on the NE corridor rail line or the turnpike?

Went to see Skynrd last year. No original members, but they still kicked butt.

Locally, they have. A nearby black neighborhood has been largely taken over by Hispanics. They are family-oriented, care for the properties, and are working to better their children’s lives.

An acquaintance teaches English in a high school. The Brazilian students are well mannered and responsible. They are not particularly studious because they want to get out, go to work, and make money.
