Lol.
Just keep shoveling more money at it!
Endless monies, right?
Haiti gained it’s ‘independence’ in 1804... Ever since then it has been a desperate sh*thole of anarchy and lawlessness. Thugs and gangs have been running it for over 200 years and there is no end in sight and there never will be... The international community went there is 2004 and did absolutely nothing of any consequence to assist the population... The United Nations, AID agencies and religious organizations have turned Haiti into a cash cow and pedophile farm, and the people who still live there are sadly doomed.
The best thing the international community can do at this point is to abandon Haiti to it’s own devices... A complete travel ban to and from the area should be established with food aid occasionally dropped using C130’s.
As for the poor souls who are left there... God help them, because nobody and nothing else will.
Complete blockade and quarantine.
Everything Biden touches turns to piles of sheet.
Speak for yourself. Not for the rest of us.
I have not seen Deep State/Democrats roasting Republicans on their backyard grills yet, but I dare say the US government is run by a criminal gang. What we see in Haiti we will soon enough here if criminals stay in control.
Here’s another idea and it kills two birds with one stone... Instead of wasting money on prisons and nonsensical rehabilitation, hardcore criminals and murder’s should just be sentenced to ‘Life on Haiti’ with no chance of return. Parachute them in with the C130 food drops and to not be completely heartless... Each of them should be given a dull machete and a compass. Then let nature take it’s course.
Our capital, DC, is run by gangs of leftists and lawyers. The USA is 5% of the worlds population, but 75% of lawyers and CRJU personnel.
Thanks for the link. Dominican Republic is very nice especially the Punta Cana resorts. I never had a desire to go to Haiti. Mountains and a wall for separation/safety? Good idea.
.....and build an electrified and mined border with DR.
I agree. Stop the flow of foreign money. There will be no incentives for the gangs to steal it. The people in charge will be forced to either make things better or they will be dragged into the street and beaten to death.
The commies at the public radio station, KPFA in Berkeley, CA, were touting Aristide as a solution for Haiti back in the very early 1990s. Of course, they were also touting Kamala Harris as eventually of Presidential potential.
Used to listen to them while commuting to see what they were up to.
That’s funny. I’ve been saying the same thing about Ukraine for years.
Maybe the US government should take back the millions of dollars in foreign aid that were paid to the Clinton Foundation that enriched the Clintons who did little to aid Haitians.
Words you will never use on a Uke propaganda thread.
no good deed goes unpunished in the world it seems.
“Kenya, which had agreed to lead the force and send 1,000 of its people, decided to pull out.”
Obviously, the Kenyan and Dominican Republican leaders are a lot brighter than ours are.
Is the Dominican Republic next door in stable condition to help it’s neighbor here to rebuild a functioning society? Or is Haiti too far gone for even those such efforts?
Not sure of the history between the two neighbors that share an island between them.
I see ads for vacation packages to the Dominican Republic all the time and at cut rate prices compared to others. Maybe Acapulco Mexico is cheaper?
I don’t know how safe it is to go on one of those Dominican vacations; I should read some reviews.
I read that there are American missionaries trapped in Haiti by this most recent societal collapse and they are pleading for help to be rescued by the US; don’t we typically help rescue American citizens from places like this?
I remember Reagan and Grenada with rescuing the foreign medical school students there (including Americans).
We took out Haiti’s President in 2021 because he would not submit to vaccine mandates. We put in a replacement. Now the 🐓 are coming home to roost
> Or is Haiti too far gone for even those such efforts?<
It’s too far gone now. Our church has had a mission in Haiti for years. The people are not capable of doing things themselves. Instead of just sending money, we put people on the ground to teach them carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, planting of crops as well as God’s word. They thrived and taught other villages. We are exclusive buyers of their hand made goods and coffee.
As to the Dominican Republic, they would be foolish to get involved at this point, though they may be overrun by the Haitian gangs eventually.
Driving through the DR you can easily see the border with Haiti. The DR side is lush with trees and vegetation. The Haiti side is barren dirt, all within feet of each other. The Haitians cut down every tree to cook with. There is nothing left.
I haven’t been to Haiti since 1982. The day we flew out the Minister of Tourism’s body was hanging naked from the archway at the entrance to the airport. The people were pleasant and crime was almost non-existent. I haven’t been back since.
It may have to get a little worse and then a Granada style invasion can clean up the trash.
