Maryland is one of a handful of safe states for Biden, so his electioneering will have little impact. The only people who will give much thought to this, come November, are Maryland voters. The rest of the country will have switched their focus to any number of crises that will likely erupt between now and election day. But people will notice the inflation they have to deal with every day, which will only get worse with the pressure this disaster will put on our supply chains.

In 1980, Florida's Sunshine Skyway bridge was taken down by a ship. The replacement cost was $230 million, with $105 million of that coming from the Federal Highway Administration and the balance coming from the state of Florida -- funded by tolls on the new bridge:

"Drivers making the trek in a standard two-axle vehicle can expect to pay $1.75 in cash. Three-axle vehicles now pay $3.50, four-axle vehicles pay $5.25, and five-axle vehicles pay $7" [discounted by roughly a third with the Sun Pass].

The tolls for the Key bridge?? 2-axle, $6.00 ; 3-axle, $12.00 ; 4-axle, $18.00 ; 5-axle, $36.00. Yikes.

20 bucks says they will use this as an ad on tv saying how strong Biden in during a crisis by using tax dollars to rebuild.

another $20 says it won’t happen for at least 10 years.

(The Maryland E-Z Pass does discount these bridge tolls by a third)

Hey, President Potato, why should I pay for a bridge that was damaged in old Baltimore?   Did I pilot my ship into their bridge?

“I would think that the ship’s owner has insurance that would pay..................”

One or more insurance companies will almost certainly pay eventually, but sorting out which companies pay and proportioning liability among them (possibly in court) could take years before any of them pay anything.

I think Lloyds of London might be in for a big part of the costs.

Um...shouldn’t we know how much the ship’s insurer will pay first, as well as what’s recoverable through civil actions against the owners?

I smell a whole lot of corruption coming...

"This bridge is in Baltimore, ..."

The bridge is not in Baltimore. It is outside Baltimore
in Baltimore County and Ann Arundel County. The state of
Maryland is responsible for the bridge's maintenance.
But it is close to the city of Baltimore.
You can see Baltimore from the bridge.

Remember first of all Briben is an advanced dementia patient on top of being pathological liar. Chances are fairly good he just spouted off to promote himself as he is seriously brain damaged.

Who pays for it could, if not probably take years.
