Eric Alterman, Senior Fellow, World Policy Institute; Sidney Blumenthal, AuthorNow you've uncovered a nest of vipers.
I meant to say that Hartung believes the professor at Columbia is pro-war and not anti-war. I messed up my own statement (at the tail end of my last message).
I'm giving Colmes some credit for backing Sean. I loved the "thumbs up" Sean flashed to Alan, after Alan calmly told the guy to "calm down" and not to insult him or Sean.
I'm surprised Sean didn't open a can of "whoop ass"!
To: tuna_battle_slight_return
That was hilarious! "Mr." Hartung went ballistic and made himself look like an idiot! Even Alan Colmes was looking at him like he had a severe problem.

Obviously a tenured psuedo-intellectual who spends way too much time contemplating his navel lint with other social misfits. One of those so called brainiacs who's IQ was raised 50 pts when he registered DemoRat. Could you imagine the press' raving of GW's intellegence and genius if he was a Rat?? After all, Yale and Harvard grad would trump Kennedy and BJ. Rather, Yale and Harvard graduated a dolt conservative????
Pray for GW and Our Troops

Elenor could NOT give an answer to the repeated question of 'Who said what?"
That is elementary debate....you had better have your ducks in a row (or at least note cards) when stating 'facts' otherwise you sound like a 5th grader in a schoolyard.
"They said it would be a short war!"
"Who?"
"They did!"
Nevermind, I think it is more who's on first.

Meg,
Nope, my thread started 2-3 minutes before this one and had already received 4 replies before this one started. They deleted the whole thing, but I can still access it under my past posts list.

Moving on to their next bogus guest (because there isn't another thread): Dick Morris. Last Thursday he was saying "ATTACK!" the public is behind Bush and it doesn't matter how many civilians and soldiers are killed just don't ignite the Arab street make it a short war. Tonight, the weekend after the big guys decided to slow it down do it right bring in the 4th, he's saying to the Pentagon "Relax", the public is with you anyway you want to go. Back massages from Dick Morris.
He relayed how he would console CLinton from policy worry by bringing in a poll showing wide support and say that same thing: Wanna pizza? Er rather, doan worry.
Anyway, think there's only two consistent things I noted: 1) this guy needs a 6-figure job any interest?, and 2) he's BIG believer in polls and not ever opposing a supra-majority (which Bush enjoys). That's why he's no match for Rove.
Bush enjoys supra-majority support not because he hastens to follow the polls but because he stakes his ground, declares his principles, and is known to be earnest in the administration of his sworn duties.
Sorry long thread - Dick Morris always sets me off with his pollsterist hedonism.

An expert with nothing but a B.A.? In Philosophy??? ROTFL!! Okaaaaaay.... Yeah, the guy's obviously out of his league and has a bit of an inferiority complex. The giveaway is when they start listing things like the honor societies they belong to and what honors they might have been awarded upon graduation. Kind of like listing membership in MENSA or something just to impress people, but in fact its not very impressive.
Someone with more depth and has attained a greater breadth and depth of accomplishment doesn't stretch and reach for things like this to embellish their credentials. They simply list their degrees and the institutions that awarded them, and let that speak for itself. Condoleeza Rice, for example, does it that way, and its much more impressive and effective for conveying the measure of one's expertise.

I don't understand the double standard and it's starting to piss me off.I wouldn't take it personally. Perhaps Admin changed his mind...perhaps no one has thought it necessary to hit 'abuse' this time.
Sometimes the ways of the Admin Moderator are unknowable.

"World Policy Institute at the New School"
that about says it all.
"receptions and annual gatherings of progressive organizations like Peace Action, the Friends Committee on National Legislation, and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom."
nothin' like preaching to the choir.

"Alan Colmes was looking at him like he had a severe problem." Alan's first look was priceless. It was a look that said, 'Sir, are you experiencing a nervous breakdown? Are you high? You didn't forget your meds in the taxi, on the way over, did you?'. After that, Alan looked like he didn't know what to think of the guy.

"In his spare time, Bill Hartung is a stand-up comedian, specializing in political humor"
ok that's insanely funny..
To: honeygrl
Did anyone notice that Hartung turned away from Sean and wouldn't look at him again after Alan told him to calm down?
Sean was having fun asking if he would like a signed copy of the book, and Hartung finally said "yes, he would sell it on eBay for a bunch of money." He never looked at Sean again, though.
Guess that showed Sean, huh? </sarcasm
