If not before jumping,

I suspect 10 seconds is sufficient time to make one's peace with God.

By the way, it isn't widely known, but a number of children died in the 9/11 attacks. There was a group of kids on a trip to California from a Washington, DC school on the flight that was crashed into the Pentagon. Over the weekend, the Discovery/Times channel ran a special about the Pentagon attack. They profiled one man who lost friends and co-workers on the ground in that attack, and whose 11-year-old son was on the plane that hit the building.

This is what I show in my database:

Falkenberg, Dana 3 AA 77
Falkenberg, Zoe 8 AA 77
Brandhorst, David 3 UAL 175
Hanson, Christine 3 UAL 175
McCourt, Juliana 4 UAL 175
Brown, Bernard 11 AA 77
Cottom, Asia 11 AA 77
Rodney Dickens 11 AA 77
Bonsignore, Genieve, 3
Vanvelzer, Barrett, 4
I have no further information on these two children

You Powell haters are such infantile, ignorant, pains in the ass.

Powell is our head diplomat. His job is diplomacy. He takes his orders from the President who uses carrots and sticks to deal with other international leaders.

If Rumsfeld was the head of State, he'd be saying and doing exacly what Powell is. If Powell was the head of Defense, he'd be calling France and Germany "old Europe".

Buy a clue, would ya?

In this, Fletch, you and I have found common ground.

I am overseas now with my squadron. I miss my wife and baby terribly. When it seems that the lonliness and depression have become too much to bear, I think of that day, and those photos.

Then, I go on. I miss my family but I don't want my son to grow up to face another day like that one. I owe it to him, all the victims of Black Tuesday, and all Americans who just wish to live their lives without that terror.

Thanks, but I'm already a proud NRA member. I currently own two guns, and plan to go "shopping" upon my rotation home. I also hold a CCW license in my home state. Further, the Navy has graciously trained me in how to use them, with appropriate ribbons included.

Oh, and due to my interest in history, I also own several very useable (and SHARP) medieval and oriental swords, as well as some quite useful Bowie knives. In fact, the closest weapon to my bedstand is my Ontario Cutlery "Black Wind" katana...20 inches of edged carbon steel, two-handed grip.

  • The New York Times said 50 people fell to their deaths from both towers. The figure was based on what their reporters counted from their video footage.

  • USA Today, using also eyewitness reports and forensic evidence, said at least 200 people fell.

  • Esquire claimed the New York's Medical Examiner's Office was not forthcoming with figures on those who fell.

“I decided to walk closer to the South Tower. I was about 100 ft from the South Tower looking up when the bodies started coming down. I counted 35. They were just piling up on the Marriott Marquis hotel. They were 10 to 15 thick piling up one after another. You could hear them hitting on the side streets. They were hitting cars, and there were lots of explosions.

“I have seen plenty of death in my life, and burned bodies and so forth, but this was incredible. As I was looking up, I saw a body coming down, hit a lamppost and explode like a paint ball. Its arms and legs got torn off and the head ripped off and bounced right by me.”

  •

  •  “Then I started hearing stories around the fire department. Like a guy working on the 110th floor who was also a fireman. He called his wife and said, ‘If I stay here, I am going to burn. But if I jump, they will find my body and you will get a death certificate, and everything will be fine. If I burn, you may not get a death certificate.’ Then he said goodbye and jumped.”

I read larger etimates up to 500 jumpers. I would say between 300-500 jumped. Not 200 and certainly not 50. 50 is an idiotic estimate from NY Times

Wow, Texasbluebell.............

That compilation of photos is the most moving thing that I have seen. It is impossible to view this and not be brought to tears and anger again.

Thanks for posting it

And I suppose that's why we'll not be seeing things like this anytime soon on the "major" networks.

I wouldn't know about what is shown on the "major" networks. I gave up on CBS and Dan Rather in the spring of '88 when he "interviewed" GHW Bush. I finally gave up on all the alphabet networks nearly ten years ago and have not watched more than a few minutes of them since. None of their "news", none of their "shows" and (for all you sponsors that may be reading this) none of their ADS! From what I have heard, I haven't missed anything.

The photos that you posted have now been saved to my harddrive and I intend to anonymously send them to a few libs that I know.

Just remember, while many in the media and the leftist fringes don't want us to remember, there are plenty of us that will never forget, nor forgive, what happened. I am gratified to know that our president has not forgotten either and has 'kicked butt' all over the middle-east. I pray that he isn't finished yet.

Excellent.

About when I did the same.

I have a feeling he's a long way from finished...

Thanks for the names of the children, AtticusX. I believe Bernard Brown was the son of the Navy man profiled on that Discovery program. He was tremendously dignified and controlled, yet his pain was profoundly evident.
