Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) grilled Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about his company's new political ad policy during a House Financial Services Committee hearing Wednesday. The freshman New York lawmaker asked Zuckerberg a series of hypotheticals about what types of political ads candidates could run without Facebook taking them down. "Could I pay to target predominantly black zip codes and advertise them the incorrect election date?" Ocasio-Cortez asked. "No, you couldn't," Zuckerberg responded, emphasizing the platform's policy of intervening in political ads when they incite violence or could lead to voter suppression. "Could I run ads targeting Republicans in primaries saying...

“Time to accept failure”: Republicans aren’t just losing. They’re not even playing the game. OCT 23, 2019 5:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER A few weeks ago I spoke up in New Hampshire at the invitation of the Sullivan County Republican Party, and the whole incident showed in microcosm how the far-Left has gained control of the media, the educational system, and the culture in general, without any significant pushback from those who are supposedly committed to the freedom of speech and a free society. My appearance led to what has now become the usual firestorm that ensues whenever someone who...

Over the weekend, we looked at allegations that HUD had broken the law by not kicking off disaster relief fund disbursement for Puerto Rico in a timely fashion following Hurricane Maria. HUD officials offered some reasons why they didn’t meet the deadline, but none of them seemed to be particularly persuasive under the circumstances. At the time I noted that the press (and their friends, the Democrats) would likely take this opportunity to go after HUD Secretary Ben Carson, who has long been a target to tag some sort of scandal on. As the old saying goes… that didn’t take long....

Our new Governor suspended and removed Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. The Florida Senate today voted 25-15 to uphold the Governor's decision to remove Israel. Israel was the Sheriff who presided over the response during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting back in February 2018. A longtime Democrat who was incompetent and loved to suck up to Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz and other National Democrats has gotten booted from office.

Germany begins importing Somali Muslim migrants on charter flights OCT 23, 2019 3:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER What could possibly go wrong, you racist, bigoted “Islamophobe”? Let’s see. Somali Muslim migrant Mohammad Barry in February 2016 stabbed multiple patrons at a restaurant owned by an Israeli Arab Christian; Dahir Adan, another Somali Muslim migrant, in October 2016 stabbed mall shoppers in St. Cloud while screaming “Allahu akbar”; and Abdul Razak Artan, yet another Somali Muslim migrant, in November 2016 injured nine people with car and knife attacks at Ohio State University. It isn’t Somalis, either. All of the jihadis who...

More than two months before the phone call that launched the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, Ukraine’s newly elected leader was already worried about pressure from the U.S. president to investigate his Democratic rival Joe Biden. Volodymyr Zelenskiy gathered a small group of advisers on May 7 in Kyiv for a meeting that was supposed to be about his nation’s energy needs. Instead, the group spent most of the three-hour discussion talking about how to navigate the insistence from Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, for a probe and how to avoid becoming entangled in the American elections,...

Fatty acids found in baked goods and takeaways may put people at greater risk of dementia. Trans fats, which are used to make cakes, biscuits, margarines and fried food, are not banned in the UK, although they are not commonly used. Japanese researchers have now linked these fats to dementia, in a study of more than 1,600 people over 60. Estimating people's consumption of trans fats using blood tests, they found those with the highest levels in their body were 52 per cent more likely to get dementia. Evidence suggests trans fats may cause harmful inflammation and the build-up of...

Dozens of Republicans, including some members of leadership like House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), barged into the secure hearing room in the Capitol basement where Laura Cooper, the deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, was set to...

Democrats are hailing testimony from senior State Department official Bill Taylor on Tuesday as their “smoking gun” to prove that President Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine unless they investigated former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. Rep. Lacy Clay (D-MO) tweeted, “I was in the room. Jaws dropped, heads shook in disbelief, this president and his enablers willfully put #NationalSecurity at risk to benefit his political campaign. This wasn’t just a smoking gun, it was a smoking cannon.” Rep. Andy Levin (D-MI) told reporters it was his “most disturbing day in the Congress so far.” However,...
