CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than half of North Carolina military members surveyed in the latest Elon University poll disapprove of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and his overall job performance. Nearly 53 percent of military members said they strongly disapproved or disapproved of Bush's handling of his job. And just more than 56 percent of that same group strongly disapproved or disapproved of how he has dealt with the Iraq war. Overall, 53 percent of those surveyed for the poll released Friday did not approve of Bush's job performance, while 57 percent did not approve of his...

Take a look at these polling numbers of the gebric congressional voting preference: Newsweek: Democrats 50 GOP 38 Pew: Democrats 52 GOP 40 Fox News: Democrats 38 GOP 35 Not even Fox News could manufactire a GOP lead. Is there any way the Democrats won't take back Congress? I don't see how. Do you think we can protest the Democratic government or something?

I was reading the text of the interview between Kalb and Rather and learned that the Rather story on Bush's aborted National Guard service was thwarted by "blogs" called "Free Republic" and "Buckhead." I did find a Buckhead.org, but it just seems to be a bland Atlanta area news source, so I don't know the story in that. So I came here. And guess what? Nothing. Your story page is nothing more than boilerplate site/conservative mission comments. I really don't know why this blog is meaningful at all. I would guess the main stream media has nothing to worry about.

You guys are pretty smart so I thought I would ask you a question. Should a Constitutional Amendment be enacted to allow for the recall of a President such as Grey Davis was recalled in California? I mean when 65% of the country realizes a President is a failure, shouldn't there be a way to remove him?

I received this via email in the past few minutes, has anyone else read this? This can't be true surely? Washington (AP) - President Bush has, by all accounts received harsh criticism over his handling of the Katrina relief effort. Earlier Tuesday, he publicly stated that he takes responsibility for the federal government's failures in the aftermath of Katrina, but what Bush may do next could surprise many observers. Senior Republican party sources have indicated to AP that Vice President, Dick Cheney led a delegation of administration officials unhappy with the federal response to hurricane Katrina and its aftermath to...

I paid no mind to international politics until after G.W. Bush took over the starring role on the world's stage so I always thought it was he who, forseeing the future, briliantly & wisely began forming alliances with the Russians. Until I stumbled upon this: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/05/20020524-3.html "For Immediate Release Office of the Press Secretary May 24, 2002 Text of Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty The United States of America and the Russian Federation, hereinafter referred to as the Parties, Embarking upon the path of new relations for a new century and committed to the goal of strengthening their relationship through cooperation...

Don't you think our president is doing well? Most main stream media(save fox) would call the president " the cause for this disaster". I want to be clear. He was not! God, allowed this to happen. Somne main stream media would call the president a non-sensitive man. Wrong again! Just a few days ago i saw our president, Mr. Bush holding two young ladys and comforting them. I saw some tears being held back bye or president. If any body calls Mr. Bush a "non-carring" man in my presance they would get heck. Then of course, there's people like kerry,...

I just got done reading the entire Stafford Act, as well as other laws. Here's the skinny: Bush never needed Governor Blanco's nor Mayor Nagin's consent to do ANYTHING in New Orleans. Posse Comitatus Act of 1878: Basically says that the Army, Navy, Air Force, etc. cannot be used to police a city "except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress" As it's been explained to me, the NG operates under the Governor's control if they're used domestically, unless they're federalized (however...

I am so proud of my country for invading Iraq that I want to go fight, too. I can't wait to kill as many Iraqis as possible -- just as any good American would want to do. At the same time, I can help bolster the profits of that fine American company, Haliburton. If I am really, really lucky, I will be killed there just as any American would be proud to do. The best scenario would be if my death could result in more Republicans bieng installed in government to invade other countries. I consider myself the luckiest man...

To the editor: One would think that the president of the United States holds the most stressful job ever. Isn't it wonderful that our pompous president is in such excellent condition healthwise? And why not? His eligible daughters aren't in Iraq protecting our country like so many others, more than 1,800 who have given their lives for a war that he started. With a smirk on his face, he says, "We will stay the course." Who is "we?" Not him or his family. Heck no. He's on a month's vacation. If he's so gung-ho about this war, show us some...

How utterly evil the Palis must be to have rejected a state as natural in its borders as the one shown above! (this was the only way to slice and dice Palestine so that "Israel" could be born with a Jewish majority). Slicing and dicing into islands is called apartheid. picture is from: http://www.jafi.org.il/education/100/maps/part.html Though Balfour, himself, was in favor of a Jewish state, Great Britain particularly favored the declaration as an act of policy. Britain wanted the United States to join World War I and the British hoped that by supporting a Jewish homeland in Palestine, world Jewry...

Do you have a "Support the Troops" sticker on your car? How do you support our troops? What do you do differently since the war started? Has your suffering increased the way it has for our troops and Iraqi citizens in harm's way? Ask your grandparents what did they did when WW2 was going on? Did their president ask them to take more vacations to Disneyland to help our economy after Pearl Harbor was bombed? If you believe we are in Iraq becasue Al Queda hates freedom, I've got some land in FL to sell you. If you really want...

The All-Volunteer Force (AVF), arguably the most successful and widely hailed federal program of the past thirty years, is failing. The conditions that enabled the AVF to thrive through the 1980s and 1990s no longer pertain. The erosion of those conditions, greatly accelerated by the Iraq War, is exposing as false the great unspoken assumption undergirding U.S. policy since the end of the cold war, namely, that the United States can enjoy the prerogatives of being the world’s sole superpower on the cheap.
