There’s a new poll coming out today around 11 A.M. on the Alabama Senate race. It comes after a whirlwind week in the special election to decide who will replace Attorney Jeff Sessions’ vacancy. Supposedly, Harry Enten at FiveThirtyEight got wind that it will show Democratic candidate and abortion extremist Doug Jones in the lead. If true, how much? We don’t know, but given the nature of the Alabama electorate, it’ll probably be within the margin of error, or maybe a step of two outside of that. Then again, it could show Jones with a rather solid lead in a...

Trump got a wall – just not the one he wanted. Manka Dhingra announced her victory in Washington state’s 45th District Senate race Tuesday night at the Redhook Brewery in Woodinville, an appropriately good-times setting to hand control of the state’s legislative chamber to her fellow Democrats. By knocking out the last GOP-held legislative body on the West Coast, Dhingra’s victory means one thing: The Great Blue Wall is back in place. On an election day when Democratic candidates unseated their Republican rivals in races from Virginia to Maine to New Jersey, delivering what the Seattle Times called the “GOP’s...

It’s possible that Chris Matthews has publicly discussed his drinking past before, but I had never witnessed it until tonight. When, on this evening’s Hardball, a winning Dem candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates started to discuss the opioid crisis, Matthews spoke up: “I was lucky not to have that [opioids.] I think I drank over the years too much and I quit.” Get the rest of the story and view the video here.
  • Will Echoes Of Hillary Clinton's Awful Coal Remarks Sink Democrats In Virginia’s Governor’s Race?

We’re three weeks out from Virginia’s gubernatorial race and it’s been mostly relegated to the backburner thanks to the endless news that emanates from the Trump White House. It’s an off-year election, but it’s in D.C.'s backyard. The state has increasingly become more bluish since the Bush years, albeit the state legislature is Republican. The House of Delegates, the lower chamber, is reliably Republican where they hold a supermajority. The state Senate is more competitive. Anti-gun groups under the Bloomberg umbrella tried and failed to flip the Senate in 2015. Those groups are mounting a second invasion of the state...
