Few people have the audacity to speak the truth about the underlying problem with the efforts to engineer “diversity” – which in practice means that blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans receive a share of jobs, college admissions, income, and other products of achievement at least proportional to their share of the population. Fortunately, Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute has a lot of guts. Last night, Ms. Mac Donald appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight and discussed the newly-announced “adversity score” adopted by the College Board publishers of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).  As explained by the New York...

If you have experienced tremendous adversity within this past year, how would you react at the thought of Giving Thanks? While many people would try to focus on what happened to them, and why, how would you cope with adverse circumstances, and hardships? In this special Thanksgiving edition of Making Sense with Rob Case, we look at the life of the Apostle Paul, who had experienced so many difficulties, adverse circumstances, and hardships that would, upon a close, contemplative look, make ours pale by comparison. And amidst everything Paul went through, he was able to tell the people of Thessalonica,...

Here I am back in Houston at MD Anderson cancer center for my next major check up. Hoping and praying no new cancer, but witnessing for God's will and it's goodness no matter what it may be

HORMIGUEROS, Puerto Rico - Hillary Rodham Clinton on Sunday offered a spiritual defense for continuing her presidential campaign, as she sought to put to rest the uproar over her comments about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Speaking to a full congregation at the Pabellon de la Victoria evangelical church, Clinton spoke in measured terms about faith in the face of adversity. "There isn't anything we cannot do together if we seek God's blessing and if we stay committed and are not deterred by the setbacks that often fall in every life," Clinton said. Clinton is campaigning for Puerto Rico's...

U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Matthew Pielmeier Marine Overcomes Adversity with Heart, Determination By Lance Cpl. Scott M. Biscuiti, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler OKINAWA, Japan, July 17, 2006 -- “My friends said I couldn't do it - that I was too short, and the Marine Corps would tear me apart,” said Pfc. Matthew Pielmeier. The 4-foot-9-inch native of Altoona, Pa., might appear diminutive in stature, but his spirit and resilience abound. “I was in seventh grade when I found out that I had a growth hormone deficiency, and I would be short for the rest of my life,” said...
  • Commentary: Soldiers, Marines Drive on Through Adversity

HIT, Iraq, June 6, 2006 – The soldiers and Marines here put up with more adversity in their deployment than most Americans will see in a lifetime. And they do it with a great attitude. These are not some goody-goody type servicemembers. They are profane to the extreme, and expletives make an appearance in most conversations. No one takes offense. "Busting chops" is a fine art, and people are always ready to tell or listen to a fine story that uses a buddy as the butt of the joke. But life in Hit, like the troops' language and jokes, is...

Cynthia wrote this awesome poem that I want to share. Katrina Christmas by Cynthia Newman Twas the Christmas after Katrina and all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The walls are hung on all the two-by-fours But we still haven’t replaced the windows and doors Electricity we have and plumbing galore It’s carpet we lack and tile for the floor. Outlets we need, as well as all paint And to think of it all makes us feel faint ! Our arms are all swollen, our hands are all sore The beds that we sleep...

A Glimpse Ahead Timothy Snodgrass The Impossible Will Come Alive In 2005 01/28/05 In January of 2004, as we began to intercede for the New Year the Holy Spirit gave us the prophetic slogan, "The Seas will Roar in 2004". This year we were given a new slogan, "The Impossible will come Alive in 2005". As the veil of darkness begins to come down over nations and regions, along with great shakings will come great breakthroughs; signs, wonders, healings and a spectacular release of miracles in impossible circumstances. This year, although we are ultimately poised to gain much ground, there...
