Security forces in Algeria have reportedly killed a senior member of Al Qaeda in north Africa. The Algerian daily newspaper Ennahar reported on Sunday that a tip-off from a former fighter led them to his hideout. The paper specialises in security matters. It said Mourad Bouzid, 65, also known as Ami Slimane, was hiding in the town of Issers, 55km east of the capital Algiers. Ennahar said he was located using information from another Al Qaeda figure who surrendered in late January under a government amnesty.
