ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Turkish authorities have jailed a Kurdish teacher for her condemnation of the killing of civilians during anti-PKK operations in 2016. The teacher gave birth recently and will go to prison with her baby. “Do not stay silent… Do not let human beings and children die, and do not let mothers cry,” Ayse Celik said on-air during a phone-in show on Turkey’s Kanal D TV station in January 2016. She was reacting to military operations in her hometown of Diyarbakir and criticized Turkish media for their coverage of the events. “What is happening here is shown on...

Matching images of a South Carolina baby boy taken within weeks before and after birth show he continues to sleep in the same exact position as he did in the womb -- capturing the baby boy’s personality while highlighting the humanity of the preborn. Michael Steppling was caught in a laid-back pose with both arms up over his head when his mother, Sarah Kelleher Steppling, had an ultrasound at 38 weeks in her pregnancy with him. Michael continued to sleep in the same position after he was born, and his easygoing demeanor emerged even more clearly after his mom had...

Today, a British friend of mine posted a photo of his three-year-old son looking into his newborn brother's crib. Which is made of cardboard. Inquiring, it turned out to be "Scotland's Baby Box", a government-funded initiative that gives a large box full of clothing and baby supplies to every child born in Scotland. This thing makes the usual "baby bag" of freebies handed out at hospitals (and paid for by companies that hope the recipients will buy more of their product, when the starter packs run out. . .) look trivial in comparison. Since when was it the job of...

The medical establishment is losing its bearings. Caught in the twilight zone of transgender alt-reality, where hurt feelings matter more than hard science, America’s pediatricians see a new threat on the horizon. In the November 2017 issue of Pediatrics, Dr. Leena Nahata, a pediatric endocrinologist at the highly ranked Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, sounds the alarm about the “gender reveal” phenomenon. She warns that a sonogram posted to Facebook, or a party to announce the unborn child’s sex, is a hazard to “pediatric health.” So is the traditional delivery room cry of “It’s a girl!” or “It’s a...

My heart leapt this week when I placed my hands on your mommy’s belly for the first time and felt you move. Dear beloved grandchild, you are a squirmy one! My daughter giggled at my squeals of joy from feeling you softly “dance” inside her. Little does she know that one day very soon your movements will be powerful kicks instead of gentle flutters. Your mom and dad have decided to wait until your birth to discover if you are a boy or a girl. And they will rejoice in learning your identity, knowing that it is the Creator of...

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Pro-life pregnancy centers went to court Friday to try to overturn a new law that they argue requires them to publicly post abortion referrals. During a hearing before U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson, attorneys for Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor and the Aloha Pregnancy Care and Counseling Center argued that the law violates their right to free speech and religion because it forces them to post signs that interfere with their faith. "It compels even non-medical pregnancy centers to recite what amounts to a government-scripted advertisement for abortion," said Kevin Connelly, Calvary's attorney. "It forces a church, Calvary...
