Ina Garten plans to cook up something special, should she ever have the opportunity to host some of Washington's top politicians. The Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa" star was asked by New York Times restaurant critic Frank Bruni what she would serve political figures. For Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass, Garten would prepare lobster macaroni and cheese. For Senate hopeful Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, an avowed BBQ lover, she would serve pulled pork shoulder with maple beans, cornbread, and a kale salad. Former Vice President Joe Biden would receive "something fun, like a lobster and clambake," Garten said. And President Trump? "A...

President Donald Trump let bygones be bygones Monday with his former rival presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, praising the Texas Republican before heading to Houston to rally for him. Trump also went after Cruz's family, suggesting Cruz's father was involved in the John F. Kennedy assassination and targeting Cruz's wife Heidi for her appearance. But the president made a reversal of his past insults as he prepared for his highly...

A Texas man grew so frustrated over receiving text messages from the U.S. Senate campaign of U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, that he's taking the organization to court. A class-action lawsuit filed against the Beto for Texas campaign on behalf of all Texans alleges the group sent text messages to voters without obtaining permission to contact them, therefore violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. The law bans the use of automated telephone equipment to send texts or calls to a person’s cellphone without their permission -- except for emergency purposes. The suit was filed in...

President Donald Trump tried to stoke fears of socialism Friday as he bashed Rep. Beto O'Rourke, the Democrat pushing to upset Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in red Texas. Ahead of his Monday visit to Houston, Trump called the 46-year-old representative a "total lightweight compared to Ted Cruz" who "comes nowhere near representing the values and desires" of Texans. He suggested O'Rourke wants to "turn Texas into Venezuela" — deploying rhetoric he has used in an attempt to portray Democrats as dangerous leftists as the GOP tries to defend its congressional majorities on Nov. 6.

The repeated calls from top Democrats leaders and influential leftists to harass and even attack conservatives and Republicans are having their effect. GOP officials and conservatives have been attacked and threatened anywhere and everywhere. And the attacks aren’t just aimed at national figures such as Senator Ted Cruz, who was driven from a restaurant by #MeToo vigilantes during the confirmation hearings of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Leftists are attacking state and local GOP officials as well. Meanwhile, unhinged university professors have joined top Democrats in calling for an end to civility.

Attention, journalists of America: Time is running out! You have under three weeks left to publish your last batch of over-the-top pre-election puff pieces on Texas Democrat/cross-country liberal sensation/wing-and-a-prayer Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke! It is here that we must face the difficult truth: Barring a GOP-related disaster of some sort, O’Rourke — he of that ineffable “cool factor” and “special sauce,” at least according to easily impressed columnists at the Washington Post — is likely to lose big. According to the latest polls, Senator Ted Cruz leads him by anywhere between seven and nine points. Tuesday’s debate between the two,...

A top Hollywood publicist says the excitement in Los Angeles over Texas Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke is at a level he hasn't seen for a national liberal politician in years. The televised debate on Tuesday between Ted Cruz and Beto O'Rourke was a massacre. O'Rourke has been reluctant to debate Cruz from the beginning, and with good reason (ironically, as a rule, an incumbent shuns debate) – Cruz has successfully argued cases before the Supreme Court. O'Rourke was occasionally flustered and almost succeeded in hiding it, while Cruz was confident and occasionally laughed at some of his opponent's assertions. But more than that, Beto relied on vague generalities about specific questions and on a couple of questions tried the politicians' tried and true tactic of avoiding answering a question by...

Britt Daniel, the lead singer of venerable indie band Spoon, has started noticing something unusual in the streets of New York City, where he's been spending time with his girlfriend, thousands of miles away from his native Texas: Stickers and T-shirts for Beto O'Rourke. "Maybe there are some Texans up here," Daniel said in an interview. "But it does seem like even non-Texans have taken a lot of interest in this race. Maybe they just see him as someone who has a future for the party, a future in politics, or maybe they're just genuinely inspired by him."
