  • Kamala Harris: The Senator From Wall Street Who Wants To Be President

Kamala Harris knows that big business and big government can get along quite well—there is money to be made off of big government, and big business is often best positioned to make it. Wall Street loves Kamala Harris. According to the Wall Street Journal, which ought to know, “Much of Wall Street cheered” her selection as Joe Biden’s running mate. No surprise there. Despite Bernie Sanders and his followers, Wall Street and big business are at home in the Democratic Party. Big Tech in particular has reason to celebrate Harris’s selection, as she has close ties to Silicon Valley. There will,...

There are reasons major companies got massive loans from the Senate's 'small business' bailout while thousands of small businesses that applied immediately were told there was no money left. There are reasons major companies got massive loans from the Senate’s “small business” bailout while thousands of small businesses that applied the first day funds were available were told there was no money left. Who is to blame, however, is more complicated.Imagine bankers who won’t deliver you taxpayer assistance unless you already owe them money. Imagine bankers who will put you at the back of the line so that franchises worth...

Congressional leaders are likely to put a very ugly deal in front of the American people, and if it passes, America may be unrecognizable after this pandemic. But there is a way to stop it, if people on the populist left and people on the populist right work together. Here’s the situation. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and the Trump administration are negotiating a bailout package to address the coronavirus crisis. There’s been a lot of chatter about the need to support workers as the economy goes into a freeze.... But in the United States,...

“Children are being targeted and sold for sex in America every day.”—John Ryan, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children Children, young girls—some as young as 9 years old—are being bought and sold for sex in America. The average age for a young woman being sold for sex is now 13 years old. This is America’s dirty little secret. Sex trafficking—especially when it comes to the buying and selling of young girls—has become big business in America, the fastest growing business in organized crime and the second most-lucrative commodity traded illegally after drugs and guns. As investigative journalist Amy Fine...

I suppose if Wal-Mart said.they'd stop selling ammo to Muslims, women, or blacks the media wouldn't be applauding their stupid gun stunt. I thought AGE was a federally protected status. So I ask if a LAW ABIDING 18 or 19 year old wants to buy a product that is legal in their state of residence, and the multibillion dollar company WAL-MART refuses, is this a civil rights case?

European countries and major corporations are pressuring President Donald Trump to remain in the Paris climate agreement despite his promises on the campaign trail to withdraw the United States from the Obama-era deal that never gained congressional approval. The Trump administration so far is sticking with being undecided—at least until Trump returns to the United States from his first foreign trip, where on Friday, he’s meeting with Group of Seven ally countries, which support the agreement.Back home, the pressure is growing from multinational corporations, even the energy sector, which have opposed stricter limitations on carbon.Exxon Mobil Corp., once run by Trump’s...

A Kasich run may be just the thing to thoroughly demoralize the Big Business/Big Amnesty/Make Nice wing of the Republican National Committee As Presidential contender, all he wanted to do was make nice and preach hollow niceties all while abandoning conservative principles and pushing a smarmy liberalism that taxes us into oblivion and forcing higher spending. As governor of Ohio, he signed off on conservative reforms, but only because of a hard-core, supermajority Republican legislature. And it looks as if he wants to run for President .... again. Give me a break.

I see where big business has decided to join together to fight President Trump. It was supposedly brought to a head by the ban decision. I somehow doubt that but that. My problem with these business leaders is that they seem to have made a business decision on pure emotion and not business logic. Who in their right mind would be an investor in a company that puts aside informed logic for an emotional decision? They seem to be disregarding the logic of a safe America for the emotional feel good emotion. Now i am sure part of their decision...

Many leaders of big business support Hillary Clinton. Last week she announced a list of 56 corporate backers. No wonder Bernie Sanders is still running against her. Hillary Clinton always has attracted well-connected business supporters. Even before she ran for office. Remember the lucrative cattle trades when she was Arkansas first lady? That came from a local businessman who knew how important it was to have friends in the governor’s mansion. Bill Clinton had plenty of business support when he ran for president. As New York senator she was quite friendly with Wall Street—a relationship that continued afterwards, with her...

  • Big Business Helps Squash Voters on Religious Liberty Debate

When it comes to religious liberty debates, big businesses don’t want the people to decide. Or at least they don’t want the people of Missouri to decide.... ...Missouri was debating a bill that, if passed, would have gone to the people to vote on, not the governor’s desk. ....But apparently even allowing people to vote on a constitutional amendment that protected the religious liberty of both those opposed to and in favor of same-sex marriage—a bill that the citizens of Missouri were free to reject if they opposed it—was a step too far for big businesses. [Opposing religious liberty for...

It may not be politically expedient to admit, but Iran is engaged in a live, "hot" war with the United States and its NATO allies -- even as we continue to do business with it. US officials have recently detailed Iran's latest hostile military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the training and arming of insurgent groups directly responsible for the death of many Americans on the battlefield.

Let me offer this prediction for 2016: We'll see a banner year in gun sales. How do I know this? The nation's best firearms salesman plans to launch an ad campaign that will produce both demand and defiance, and he’s going to start just as soon as possible, as the Washington Post's Juliet Eilperin reports: President Obama will press ahead with a set of executive actions on guns next week despite growing concerns in the United States over terrorism that have dampened some Americans' enthusiasm for tighter firearms restrictions.

Hard lessons about Big Business, the Chamber of Commerce, their undue influence in the Republican Party have been a hard one for me to accept, and yet too many people are content to shout ''Establishment" without really identifying the core problems This has been the hardest lesson for me to learn. I never thought that being pro-business could compromise one’s fight for liberty and limited government. Yet I have learned to accept what Scott Rasmussen argued after the disappointing 2012 President Elections: too many people still see the Republicans Party as pro Big Business. There is much truth to this...

Tennessee Republican Senator Bob Corker, author of the treasonous Corker – Cardin bill to facilitate President Obama’s nuclear weapons treaty with Islamist Iran, has made another inexplicable betrayal of American military superiority and indeed the future of America itself. The Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which Corker authored, requires the Administration transmit to Congress all documents related to the JCPOA —including side agreements—prior to a 60-day review period and subsequent vote. There’s no doubt that Obama has not complied with the terms of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, indeed Senator Corker said “there’s no question that two of the...

Kass, the Addie Clark Harding Professor Emeritus in the Committee on Social Thought and the College at the University of Chicago and former chairman of the President’s Council on Bioethics under former President George W. Bush, has written a report entitled “The Meaning of Life – In the Laboratory”. The Obama Administration has chosen to back Ebola vaccines made using cell lines cultivated from aborted babies, despite the fact that the government itself acknowledged that moral alternatives could also be used, according to a pro-life organization that specializes in advocating for morally produced vaccines.  Children of God for Life says it has discovered that several Ebola vaccines in development for use worldwide are being made using the aborted fetal cell lines. The proof of the use of the controversial cell lines in the manufacture of the vaccines is found in the patents. According to the patents, Glaxo SmithKline (GSK) and NIAID...

Maxine Waters — the fiery liberal from Los Angeles known for calling House Republican leadership “demons” and threatening to nationalize oil companies — has gone from the scourge of Big Business to a sympathetic ally for corporate America. It’s no accident. Waters is executing this transformation by seizing on the growing divide between conservative Republicans and Big Business and leveraging her position as the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, where in the coming weeks she will play a role in the battles over extending a terrorism insurance program and the Export-Import Bank. A large part of her...
