Student deejays of the “Deplorable Radio” show at University of Minnesota-Morris were shut down in mid programming this month after one said the word “tranny” on-air – a word the student program manager called a “hate slur” and a violation of FCC rules when barging into the studio with campus police to pull them off the air. A Muslim man in the UK was sentenced to six years in prison Thursday, Oct. 5 for attempting to radicalize two elementary school brothers by showing them Islamic State beheading videos and other terrorist propaganda. An estimated 100 protesters littered the grounds surrounding the Thomas Jefferson statue at the University of Virginia (UVA) Tuesday night to show strength behind a list of demands the Black Student Alliance gave to the university in August in response to the now infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville. The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign’s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter has gone radical on Facebook calling for “violent resistance, whether black bloc or full-scale armed conflict” in its fight against fascism, White Supremacy and Zionism. SJP’s latest event: “Smashing Fascism: Radical Resistance Against White Supremacy,” claimed “there is no room for fascists, white supremacists, or Zionists” at the Illinois university. U.S. Rep. Anthony Brown (D-Md.) announced he will introduce a bill to limit free speech or “hate speech” at universities and colleges and force the schools to report hate crimes to local law enforcement. His logic behind the bill is to require universities to demonstrate they have programs in place that will define for students “what is acceptable speech and what is not acceptable speech.” Brown said funding will be set aside in a grant for institutions unable to secure the resources to create the programs.
