A strip of pavement in front of the White House has been permanently blocked off from the public after numerous security breaches/jumpers cleared the fence at that spot. Previously, the south fence of the White House had only been blocked off from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m., but security concerns have necessitated its permanent closure. The U.S. Secret Service said it would end public access to a sidewalk along the south fence of the White House beginning on Wednesday night. The sidewalk has been closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. since 2015 and will now be off-limits around...

Just before midnight Friday, emergency sirens began wailing throughout Dallas after an apparent system malfunction. Dallas spokeswoman Sana Syed said emergency crews were working to fix the problem, but that the fix may take a while "because it's a manual shutoff." There are quite a few tornado sirens in town, so the incident was anything but isolated.

On Saturday, Donald Trump led a rally of supporters to raise their right hands and take a pledge that they would vote for him. “Let’s do a pledge. Who likes me in this room?” Trump asked the crowd at a rally in Orlando, Florida, which was frequently interrupted by protesters. “I’ve never done this before. Can I have a pledge? A swearing? Raise your right hand.” The Republican presidential front-runner then proceeded to get the audience to repeat after him. “I do solemnly swear that I, no matter how I feel, no matter what the conditions, if there are hurricanes or...

In the court documents filed by Meyer which were obtained by TMZ he is also asking for one other thing from Bristol - child support. Sarah responded by telling Entertainment Tonight in a statement; 'For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic] and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol's pregnancy or the baby.' She then said that Meyer...

I thought young Freeper parents could use a reference thread for "everything your child should know about toy gun safety/ gun safety. For instance: 1) Don't point toy guns at children too young to play with them. 2) Play with toy guns with an adult present. 3 ) Toy guns are outside toys. Your house rules may vary, but I think having a conservative resource for this information would be a welcome response to more statist notions. What are your house rules? What do you teach (or have you taught) your children?

A seven-year-old German shepherd named "Louie," bears the painful evidence of neglect on his once regal body. For a time, the purebred shepherd, who had been purchased for thousands of dollars, was a beloved part of his family's life...everything changed when he was banished to live his life outside after the family welcomed a new baby. Louie's life of being a pampered pet vanished and as he endured life outside, his health began to deteriorate. Of little matter was his fine pedigree or...

ABERDEEN, Wash. -- The mother of a 3-year-old boy is furious that a man wasn't arrested after he allegedly assaulted the child at an Aberdeen playground. The suspect is developmentally disabled, and prosecutors say that presents a challenging legal issue. Three-year-old Matthew Svoboda was playing at the park Tuesday when things got ugly. The boy's family claims a 27-year-old man started attacking the child without warning. "He pulled him off that with one arm and then he started hitting him, either with a closed fist or an open hand," said Matthew's brother, Toby Svoboda. The boy's mother, Isabel Svoboda, watched...

In yet another tragic citizen shooting by police. This time a father was beat, tazed, maced and ultimately shot several times..for what crime you ask? For merely refusing to allow a deputy into his residence at 3:40 in the morning without a proper search warrant. Do our constitutional rights already mean nothing? It is beyond time to start holding these rouge officers responsible for their actions. In this and so many more just this month those actions look to be murder (at times even executions.) It is time for us to start demanding that the Sheriffs and Police Chiefs rein...

When companies like Ancestry.com and 23andMe first invited people to send in their DNA for genealogy tracing and medical diagnostic tests, privacy advocates warned about the creation of giant genetic databases that might one day be used against participants by law enforcement. DNA, after all, can be a key to solving crimes. It “has serious information about you and your family,” genetic privacy advocate Jeremy Gruber told me back in 2010 when such services were just getting popular. Now, five years later, when 23andMe and Ancestry both have over a million customers, those warnings are looking prescient. “Your relative’s DNA...

Sara Domaradzka had just escaped her family's burning two-flat in Portage Park early Tuesday when her dog Bambi scrambled out of her arms and raced back into the flames. Her family believes the 4-year-old terrier-Labrador mix knew Domaradzka's 69-year-old father was still in the home and went back after him. "She ran back into the house to find (Sara's) dad, and then they both got stuck there," said Domaradzka's boyfriend, Alessandro Mininni. Firefighters arrived at the home on the 5100 block of West Grace Street around 1:30 a.m. and carried out Piotr Domaradzka, who did not have any vital signs....

Starting her day with a serious traffic accident was bad enough. But Joy McFarlin's run-in with two Milwaukee police officers was worse. Before it was over, this 75-year-old grandmother had been threatened repeatedly with jail, arrested, put in handcuffs, placed in a squad car and taken to a police station. The two cops had the notion based on witness statements that McFarlin was lying by insisting she, and not some mystery man, was driving her car at the time of the crash. They thought she was covering up for a guy who fled the accident scene. There was no such guy, she...

The New York Police Department has equipped x-rays in some of its vans but it’s refusing to talk about them due to “security concerns.” Even though these x-ray vans reportedly cost $825,000 a piece, NYPD is staying completely silent about them and their purpose. “Those are issues I’d prefer not to divulge to the public at this time,” NYPD Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said, NYMag reports. “I will not talk about anything at all about this — it falls into the range of security and counter-terrorism activity that we engage in.” Bratton was asked to comment on a request from the NYCLU...

(CNN)For two years, the whereabouts of Geraldine "Gerry" Largay had confounded authorities in Maine.
