Sebelius was out of state when the tornado happened. Pat Roberts had to take charge. I think she’s trying to cover herself by shifting the focus to the president and playing to the Democrats nationally for her further ambitions.

Here’s a paragraph from a press release from the National Guard.

Currently, the Kansas National Guard has 88 percent of its forces available, 60 percent of its Army Guard dual-use equipment on hand, and more than 85 percent of its Air Guard equipment on hand, said Randal Noller, public affairs officer for the National Guard Bureau. Under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, which is a national partnership agreement that allows state-to-state assistance during governor or federally declared emergencies, Kansas has more than 400,000 Guardsmen available to it, he pointed out. However, Kansas has not yet requested assistance from other states.

From what I’m hearing, she was out of state and Pat Roberts had to step in to take leadership. She’s now trying to cover for that by blaming the president. It also doesn’t hurt that she gets to play up to the national Democrats for her future purposes.

Here’s a press release from the National Guard.

National Guard Responds to Kansas Tornado

    American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2007 – More than 300 members of the Kansas National Guard have been activated in response to a powerful tornado that almost destroyed the town of Greensburg, Kan., May 4.
Guard members are assisting in search-and-rescue efforts in the wake of the tornado, which was classified as an F-5, the highest rating given by the National Weather Service.

The tornado wiped out much of the small town, knocking out power, water, natural gas and communications. To date, 10 deaths and more than 100 injuries have been reported.

The Kansas National Guard’s 278th Sustainment Brigade has established a joint task force near the incident site. In addition to search-and-rescue efforts, the troops are working on power generation, logistical support, debris clearing, support to law enforcement, supporting establishment of shelters and distribution of food and water.

The National Guard Bureau has offered liaison, operational, communications, contracting, search-and-rescue, public affairs and community relations support, and is prepared to support the governor in any way possible, Noller said.

I also got four mailings from another group warning me that Phill Kline was looking at my medical records. How did I get on that mailing list?

It's nice as a conservative to know that these people used conservative arguments to defeat Phill Kline. If they had told the truth about what they were really doing, then I would feel bad. It's so funny that Kathleen Sebelius wants universal government health care, after a campaign of frightening Kansans about government intrusion into their health care.

I can't remember how many automated phone calls I got telling me that Phill Kline was going through my personal medical records. However, Paul Morrison wanted to keep the government out of my personal medical records. Vote for Kathleen Sebelius and Paul Morrison, who want to protect innocent Kansans from Phill Kline's governmental intrusion.

I also got six mailings from a group funded by George Tiller telling me that my medical records weren't safe. These people know what Kline was really doing, and they know that Morrison has used medical records in his investigations, but they turned it into something it wasn't. I would consider all this a lie.

Has it ever occurred to you to defend a conservative Republican in Kansas on this forum? Once? Paul Morrison, together with the media in this state and George Tiller, waged a vicious smear campaign against Phill Kline, his staff, and his work as a.g. that was almost impossible to rebut. They lied about Kline. It would be great if you could, for once, actually help out once in awhile.

Instead of attacking Kline, who did nothing wrong, why not attack those who lied about him?

How did Kline disregard the Constitution?

What are the many other cases where he disregarded the Constitution?

To the other posters, it will come as no surprise to you that the judge who threw this out is a Democrat. Tiller funds almost all the liberal causes in this state. If he went down, their funding would go too.

I received all six of the "Snoop Dog Kline" mailings as well as mailings from another group that also lied about what Phill Kline was doing. Paul Morrison's campaign claims that it had absolutely nothing to do with these groups. If that's the case, what I'd like to know is how personal pictures of Paul Morrison got on these mailings. On one mailing, it showed a family portrait of the Morrison family and another picture showed Morrison with two guys in hunting gear. How did the groups get these personal pictures if Morrison was not affiliated with them?

I'm not surprised by this, hate to say. Paul Morrison has been on TV constantly telling lies about Phill Kline. And I'm not just calling them lies. A college professor in a newspaper article was quoted as saying Morrison is lying about Kline. I have seen only one Phill Kline commercial, but I don't watch the news very much.

Just today I got a message on my machine urging me to vote for Kathleen Sebelius and Paul Morrison because they will protect me from Phill Kline's search to view my private medical records. It's just disgusting.

Pretty much everyone in law enforcement is endorsing Kline, and you're asking me to give the reason why? Why do you think? And you call Kline a boob?

Morrison has admitted he didn't know all the facts of the abortion clinic investigation, yet he said he'd stop it. (Don't tell me his words are being "overparsed." He said he'd stop the investigation, and he's never corrected anyone until very recently when accused of it. He is trying to cover his tracks.) Of course, that announcement came the day after George Tiller held a fundraiser for him in Washington D.C. His only reason for running is to protect the abortion industry. He is definitely running to pursue a personal agenda.

The KSSC had the records redacted, yes. Kline is only investigating the clincs for illegality, not patients. Their privacy is protected. So the investigation is most definitely not "worthless."

Yes, I do believe in the separation of powers, and Kline's job is to enforce the law, which he's doing. Morrison (whatever he's claiming now) said he won't. And please stop calling this guy a "good man."

Pretty much every person in law enforcement, except of course John Walsh, has endorsed Phill Kline for re-election. However, as you say, it's really hard to qualify those endorsements. What do they know?

You're obviously a faker but for my own benefit I'll post this. If Phill Kline is "an incompentent boob," then can you explain this? Morrison has said that Kline is a "doofus," yet Morrison says the doofus managed to fool a judge. Maybe Kline fooled the U.S. Supreme Court too when the doofus successfully argued before them. Good thing Morrison is smarter than all of them. Or maybe Paul Morrison needs to watch his mouth.

Also, could you explain once and for all whether Morrison supports Kline's request for abortion clinic records? In September, Morrison said he'd end the investigation. Now, apparently Morrison has changed his mind. If he's changed his mind, then please tell me what exactly his (and your) gripe is?

Here is an analysis of Morrison's conflicting statements.

Not only does she deserve a hearing because the president nominated her. She deserves a hearing just to defend her reputation from all the trash that's been said about her.

I really, really, really hope she does well during the hearings.
