  • Corzine Courts Obama Backers in All-Out Push

Key thing to watch is if Obama’s schedule “suddenly” has to be changed & he doesn’t show tomorrow. If that happens....means internal polling for Corzine is way worse than the published polls...& “O” doesn’t want to be near the stench of the rotting carcass....here’s wishing for a “no show” tomorrow.....

"Are Jersey people’s complaint about taxes justified? More than half of the budget goes for schools. Taxpayers vote for more taxes every year in school budgets and then get mad because taxes go up. Tax cuts in the campaign are just boob bait for the bubbas."

School budgets have been soundly defeated in many municipalities....but in NJ the budgets can get through anyway if the state determines that's the way it should be....and, no, I'm NOT kidding and, yes, I live here ( for now). It's disgusting!!!!!

Look for BOR to exact some more revenge, for being snubbed

He should be snubbed for the low class trick of giving Obama air time during the GOP convention.

She had a few handicaps, called handlers. The whole mess of them were po'd that Palin drew bigger crowds than all the rest of them.

Totally agree about the handlers - not so sure about having the depth of knowlede. Drawing big crowds is what occurs naturally when you're ARTICULATE!!!!! She was incredibly articulate( big time ) & people loved hearing her speak. Did anyone - EVER - LOVE hearing GW speak or McCain???? I realize this is style over substance - what GW DID was more important ( to many of us ) than how he spoke, but you can't - in this day - continue to garner mass public support if you have marbles in your mouth.

OK - Admitting that I might have missed something - please explain to me how Palin is ‘damaged

She's not "damaged" for those of us that like her & gave McCain another look solely because she was on the ticket.....but she is linked to a huge loss in the presidential election - rightly OR wrongly. I'm NOT saying I agree with the link - but it would be foolish & naive to think that link is not cemented in public opinion. Public opinion wins us elections, not our own passions - it's a hard fact to swallow but we need to deal with reality if we want to get our power back. We lost Ohio, Virginia, Iowa, North Carolina (!!!!) etc. etc. for Pete's sake. SOMETHING happened - again - please don't misinterpret - I'M not blaming Palin - I think the loss would have been even worse without her.......but we have to live in the real world of public opinion & not just feel good by only talking to one another & think for one minute that that's going to work. Many of our own party turned on her & McCain is doing NOTHING!!!!! to dispell all these so called "insider" reports of how she was a drag on the ticket. They ARE cowards - but - it IS damage.....like it or not.

Never for one moment have I thought Bush a lightweight....he’s not. The only reason the media were able to get away with their portrayal is because he couldn’t effectively sell himself otherwise. Sarah may or may not be a lightweight - she’s articulate as all heck & likeable....I’m just not so sure about the rest. I’m not basing this on the media’s portrayal - I’m basing it on my own observations of her over this admittedly very short time. It has nothing to do with her educational background either ( Reagan’s was minimal at best )....I hope she proves me wrong but I really do believe she’s too damaged - just like Lieberman got damaged by his own party.

"For too long, we have focused on issues. Real conservatives need to begin today communicating to the youth of our country a principles-based (enduring ideas) approach to examining issues (current challenges). If the youth vote determines the outcome of future elections, then such an in-depth approach is essential to developing an "informed electorate"

Amen amen amen amen......communication!!!! ARTICULATION!!!!! All the great ideas in the world aren't worth a bucket of spit unless you can communicate to the great unwashed masses ( Newt does this in spades ) but you also have to be likeable at the same time ( Newt.....not so much ).

"Jindal is much more experienced, better educated, has more wit, and yes, is smarter than Palin. Like it or not, some of Palin’s “deer in the headlights” moments were good fodder for the media. Jindal doesn't have those."

Totally agree.....no flames here. Intellectually Jindal has more weight.....loved Sarah but thought she was somewhat "lightweight" for these times.

I would reverse it - definitely have Jindal for VP. A bunch of other conservatives ( the REAL ones ) at the top. Palin is too damaged ( sigh ) . The GOP needs an ARTICULATE team.....Palin was great at this ( that’s why so many loved her )....we’ve been starving for articulation plus energy for a looooooong time....GW missed out on the “articulation thing”. Conservatism is one thing - being able to articulate it is quite something else. Reagan had both.

But..........if “something” ( scandal, impeachment, birth certificate....fill in the blanks ) should prevent Barry from continuing in office & Biden has to take over.....who’s the most logical choice for new VP......can we all say “Hillary”!!!! This way she gets to the Oval office ( after Biden then has to step down for health reasons ) without the “inconvenience” of waiting four more years & without spending a penny of her war chest.....( I am now going to put a cold cloth on my head & wait for sundown to imbibe in an adult beverage )....

    OK...think of this scenario:

What if "the great one" is unable to fulfill his duties after the election ( could be anything, the birth certificate deal, another scandal that CAN'T be ignored because of its size, etc. ). Biden becomes Prez. ( gasp! )....he needs a VP ASAP...the ONLY logical choice is ( drumroll ) : HILLARY!!!!!! It's her fastest route to the White House without waiting for 4 more years & taking the risk that a GOP presidency might be popular ( if Mac wins ). THAT's why she's campaigning for him.....it's quicker this way ( of course Biden's days as Prez. will be numbered if the HILL has anything to say about it ).

Just a word about Quinnipiac.....a few days ago they released a NJ poll that had Obama winning 100% of the black vote....McCain had 0%.....this is NOT a joke. The Star Ledger ( a left wing ultra liberal rag ) actually buried this poll on page 7 or so and only included the results as part of a totally different article. Maybe it was just so obviously “out there” that even the Ledger couldn’t accept the results with a straight face. McCain.....0% of the black vote!!!!!!!!

    Internals are interesting:

For McCain: Dems that are Lib/Moderate/Conservative = 31%

For Obama: Pubbies that are Lib/Moderate/Conservative = 19%

    a 12% differential in McCain's favor......

I think it’s a good ad because it gets to a very simple ( for many of us, over-simplified ) point very quickly. You don’t have to use paragraphs when single short sentences will do. The majority of the American public DON’T pay as close attention as we do....they have most of this as background noise. You need soundbites to drill into their head....over & over & over again. Obama = higher taxes. Obama = makes the situation worse. One trillion dollars = a VERY BIG NUMBER.....nuff said.

The one thing McCain has ALWAYS been consistent on is limits to spending ......that’s why he voted against the Bush tax cuts.....too much additional spending attached........if he wins, his liberal use of that veto pen may set things a whole lot better than they are now.....

I briefly tuned to MSNBC & swear I heard Chrissy say that he thought McCain turned the economic issue around against Obama when he ( Chrissy ) thought that Obama should have cleaned his clock...said that all the talk about cutting spending was really very effective...( I swear I’m not hallucinating )....

I don’t like it either....would have been much more effective to play Biden’s words & have the script read: “They may say one thing in a speech in a coliseum, but the truth comes out when they aren’t scripted”....or something to that effect.....play Biden over & over & over & over again & maybe insert at the end the “bitter clingers” comment....
