A candidate, for a job or elective office, two errors can sandbag candidacy and result in rejection:

    1. Whining -- "When we left the White House, we were dirt poor."

    2. Criticizing previous bosses, history of disloyalty -- Having served BHO as Secretary of State, she now bashes him regarding foreign policy. (She has turned on friends before, repaying loyalty with betrayal for her personal benefit.)

The world's smartest woman (self-proclaimed) should figure out that running for the Presidency will meet with defeat even more ignominious than her book sales.

I hope she doesn't figure it out.

Bloomberg does not qualify to lead or dictate in this country; perhaps the nice folks in Red China would find his control-freak elitism more convivial to their mind-control structure. (Maybe they’d take him if we threw in Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Michael Moore!)

When a politician does not trust armed citizens, one should assume that politician has something to hide from his or her employers, whom he or she considers “subjects” rather than citizens.

  • Sixteen Republican Senators Vote For Cloture On Gun Control Bill (Lamar Alexander, AYE!)

Even given the stale-dating, it benefits us to know of the perfidy of those who “serve” us. (Medium-rare?) I wrote the following to many this morning:

A double whammy — civil rights and mental health

Well, the Senate, including sixteen Republican senators, did it again. They arrogated to themselves a role of ruling rather than serving, putting both civil rights and mental health treatment in jeopardy.

    1. Civil Rights—Under this bill, a health professional, not even necessarily your physician, maybe an IRS official “administering” Obamacare (for our own good, or course), may choose to put you on the NICS list, prohibiting you from purchasing, and in some states, even owning, firearms, which he or she can do without you knowledge and without any opportunity to defend yourself. When you later discover that your name is on the NICS shit list, even in error, you and you alone have the burden of proof to restore your good name and your civil rights — no due process of law and no presumption of innocence for you misfits, “clinging to your guns and religion.”

    2. Mental health treatment—Knowing this, would you report depression or other psychological or mental symptoms to a stranger and, in so doing, put your civil rights at risk and possibly lose the ability to protect yourself and your family, enjoy your recreation, and exercise your constitutional civil and property rights?

    3. Our “rights” under HIPAA—Putatively, HIPAA protects the confidentiality of our medical information. Therefore, a “health professional” should have to request our permission to release our medical information to the administrators of the NICS list unless he or she decides that we represent an affirmative threat to ourselves or others (in which case and for which determination, the health professional takes responsibility for that determination).

How very sad that our elected legislators in the United States Senate, all sworn to defend the Constitution and elected to serve their constituents, us, act in total disregard for our rights and in a way that will, if enacted, discourage people from seeking needed medical help.

I wonder if these elite members of our very own nomenklatura would act in such a cavalier fashion by allowing health professionals to stealthily deny journalists, teachers, protesters, clergy, defendants and witnesses, and others to exercise free speech, “freedom of religion and the exercise thereof”, freedom from self-incrimination, and other rights, including but not limited to those enumerated in the Bill of Rights. I wonder if they have forgotten the difference between serving and ruling.
Please write to your own Senators, your Congressional representatives, and anyone else you can think of to express your outrage. I’ll list the e-mail addresses or web sites of the sixteen miscreants who voted to abridge their constituents’ rights:

Please take action and spread the word.

  • Should America Open Its Borders? Reason Presents a Debate on Immigration

You overlook what may be the most important issue in the long term. Many immigrants, most now patriotic, productive citizens, spent years and resources to come here. They honored the law and set a wonderful example to their families, friends, and neighbors.

Blanket amnesty and other “immigration reform” measures slaps them in the face and tells the world that their respect for this country and our laws represents foolishness and that those who held our country and our laws in contempt did it the smart way.

The only credible motivations for “immigration reform”, in my opinion, are to create more Democrat voters and promote dependency on big government programs — free stuff!

You got it right. conservatives, including Tea Party conservatives, have to learn several things:

    1. Stop eating our children, continue to support those candidates whom we manage to get elected, even those whom we perceive as having become “impure”.

    2. Recognize the truth of the old Klingon aphorism: “Only a fool fights in a burning house!” Conservatives, libertarians, moderates, neo-cons, and others have a common enemy. We can negotiate our differences, far smaller than with our common enemy, later, after we win.

    3. Find core principles against which we can measure our positions on issues. My most important ones are the support for: Constitutional Government, Frugal Government, Limited Government, and non-intrusive Government. If we can agree, at least to some extent, we can win and settle (or agree not to settle) issues later.

Does that make sense to you? Ask yourself: Would you rather be successful or perceived as virtuous?

  • Chasing the Dream of Half-Price Gasoline from Natural Gas

This process seems quite reminiscent of Mobil's process for converting the methane in natural gas to gasoline. First they converted the methane to methanol ("wood alcohol", so named because one can get it from destructive distillation of cellulose); next they passed the methanol through a molecular sieve catalyst called Zeolite (ZSM-5) under controlled temperature and pressure. This resulted in production of a hydrocarbon mixture close to octane in average chain length, extremely clean -- free of sulfur and nitrogen compounds -- heat, and water. Mobil started a pilot plant in New Zealand in the late 1970s, a technical success and a political and economic failure. A brief description of the process from Wikipedia: Methanol is made from methane (natural gas) in a series of three reactions: 1. Steam reforming: CH4 + H2O → CO + 3 H2 ΔrH = +206 kJ mol-1 2. Water shift reaction CO + H2O → CO2 + H2 ΔrH = +206 kJ mol-1 3. Synthesis 2 H2 + CO → CH3OH ΔrH = -92 kJ mol-1 The methanol thus formed may be converted to gasoline by the Mobil process. First methanol is dehydrated to give dimethyl ether: 2 CH3OH → CH3OCH3 + H2O This is then further dehydrated over a zeolite catalyst, ZSM-5, to give a gasoline with 80% (by weight based on the organics in the product stream) C5+ hydrocarbon products.

No, not another one. Walker simply recognizes what we should all face, the Klingon aphorism: “Only a fool fights in a burning house.” Let’s douse the fire. Please, first defeat the principal enemy, then address internal questions with reason and discussion.

At this time in history, Walker has it right. Do you want to be pure or do you want to save the Republic?

Agreed! Let’s thank him for doing the right thing rather than figuring out whether he has the “right” motives and a pure heart. Otherwise, we, once again, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and, once again, commit slow political suicide.

  • The Golden Years Of AARP

    chuck07852 to Kaslin

Having become disgusted over AARP ignoring my letters, I sent this yesterday in response to a renewal solicitation to member@aarp.org (They have not yet replied.):

Subject: Renew, perhaps if I get a substantive response this time.

Once again, you write to ask me to renew my AARP membership and continue to support the organization that continues to ignore my preferences, leave my letters to you unanswered.

Since I joined and remained a member of AARP, I have written to you numerous times about your position on Social Security,; illegal immigration; civil rights (support for the complete Bill of Rights, not just those parts you choose to support.); and Obamacare, which you unashamedly supported and promoted despite the opposition of the majority of your members and the majority of Americans and which (”... cancer treatment will be rationed based on age of the patient ....”) does, despite denials from the lockstep press, provide for death panels.

Please start responding to your members’ correspondence, find out what we members prefer, and represent us vis-a-vis those preferences rather than haughtily arrogating to yourselves the true knowledge of what we should prefer and what we would, indeed, prefer, were we only as enlightened and sensitive to revealed truth as you.

If you do that, I may think AARP membership somewhat worthwhile (so you can continue to receive the kickbacks from insurance companies and others with something to sell to us). All you have to do to earn that respect is to serve your members rather than try to rule us. All you need do is listen to your members. Do I ask too much?

I look forward to receiving your response to this letter; though, based on past experience, I do not plan to bet the farm on receiving the courtesy of such a response.

  • Mike Huckabee sides with CCM policy offering in-county tuition to illegal immigrants

    04/13/2011 11:14:58 AM PDT · 27 of 53
    chuck07852 to ZULU

This is what I wrote to the guv this morning, after reading a Daily Record article that stated that the Governor, in a speech at Drew University, said that he favored the policy of County College of Morris (NJ) of giving all illegal aliens in-county tuition rates, I sent this message to Mike Huckabee via www.mikehuckabee.com:

    Governor,

How dare you come into our county, Morris County, NJ, to my alma mater (Drew University) as a pretender to the label “conservative”, and preach in favor of illegal immigration, of saying that illegal immigrants should be favored with in-state, in-county tuition rates when we don’t even accord that benefit to veterans, including me.

I realize that many are not bad people, that some are the victims of their parents’ contempt for America and our laws. I don’t suggest punishment, but neither should we reward them at the expense of taxpayers!

My wife came here from Russia and, when her visa expired, she followed the law and returned to Russia; she then applied for a new visa, came back, and followed the legal path to get a green card and then to become a proud and patriotic citizen.

Why should people who honor this country and its laws subsidize and step aside for those who show contempt for our country, its culture, its laws, and even its language to cut in line and receive taxpayer largesse without taxpayer consent?

It pleases me that you finally show your true colors—conservative when you speak to your main base, liberal when speaking to blue-state audiences, a Christian when it suits your target audience (though not when you judge other Christians as not “real Christians”), and—when it might garner a few votes—a shameless panderer.

I would like to know how you justify that speech.

    Sincerely,

    Chuck

Readers of this blog, please send your own letters to the panderer and please pass the word.
