in one way you are correct. google-analytics does track your information here, but they are doing this at the request of freerepublic. if you view the source code for a page on fr (or have your tech savvy hubby show you), you will see the request to have google-analytics tracking included at the bottom of the code.

this is extremely common on websites, as the reports google provides from this data are very useful to the website operator. there are ways to block this (and other such tracking), if you are bothered by this behavior. it may slightly degrade and/or change how some sites work for you, though. ymmv.

the article clearly talks about losses, not money put into play. and the game he plays is slots, which, over any significant duration of time will leave a gambler much poorer than when he started.

there were two challenges, part one was just to get linux to run somehow on the xbox. part two was to get it to run with no hardware modifications. both challenges have been met.

i think this was a classic case of rural oklahoma voting with their pocketbook. the cockfighting industry added some extra money to people's bank accounts, in areas where extra money is awfully hard to come by. they voted against the ban, and for the guy who was against the ban.

for what it's worth, there is an injunction against enforcing the ban, although i'm not sure if it's statewide or just a few counties. i believe a dem legislator got it before a judge.

both of the major newspapers, the daily oklahoman (conservative) and the tulsa world (liberal) require registration to view the articles. the world requires a paid subscription for all, the oklahoman expires the free content after a week, i believe.

so google can't even get to the content to archive it. it makes it difficult to blog oklahoma news because of this.

the legislature is historically dem. it's trending republican, as the conservatives in the demoncratic party slowly move to the gop, just like in the south, and texas. but it's a mistake to say at the moment, that dems here, particularly in farming or other rural communities, are liberal.

the most recent election for governor was very intersting. largent (r), brad henry (d), and richardson (i) were the major players. richardson garned alot of support with a populist campaign (make these turnpikes free!) eastern oklahoma had a large turnout because of the cockfighting issue on the state ballot.

largent was for the statewide ban. henry was against. rural dems came out for the issue, and voted for henry. urban voters, which overwhelmingly wanted to ban cockfighting, couldn't seem to pull the lever for largent, for whatever reason.

i'm sure that pesky law can be easily amended to exclude certain players, aren't you?

two of the three items were supplied by you. i just added the actual, you know, result of the arrests. i'm still waiting for you to defend your premises. your argument is that (residents reported) the crowd was engaging in criminal behavior, and you argued this didn't stop just for the night in question. police found no evidence for your accusations. so are you now saying you believe the residents (premise #1) over the police? why do you hate the police so much?

Every single person who has the audacity to say 1) The police are 100% guilty, 2) The raid was not necessary or justified under any cirumstance, 3) Nobody in the KMart parking lot on Friday and Saturday nights has ever committed a crime there at any time and 4) The people living in the apartment complex surrounding the KMart are liars are nothing but unabashed, unmitigated cop haters who need to be taken to a high crime area (like Houston's Fifth Ward) and left to their own devices with nothing but the clothes on their back

keep digging. maybe you'll cover yourself up eventually. wouldn't it just be easier to admit you made a mistake with this line of argument? everyone here has acknowledged the crowd was a problem. but that didn't justify the police tactics. (and i know you didn't just seriously call free republic a hostile place for law enforcement)

my theory is someone brought their laptop home from work (safe behind the firewalls) and went online without a firewall at home. it's plausible, but i don't know microsoft employee policy (and actual behavior) for using equipement like that.

i'm not saying it. your arguments are. it's not my fault your arguments are poor. you offered no explanation as to why those drunken vandals in the parking lot were not charged. your only response was sarcasm, a particularly ineffective technique when arguing with yourself.

you have stated multiple times that the crowd was guilty of criminal behavior, but there were no charges filed. you continue to support the raid, despite the plain fact that it was a huge screwup and will cost officers their jobs, and taxpayers millions. you can't even generate support for your position on free republic, which has about as friendly an leo crowd as can be found in the general public.
