  • Man sentenced to life in prison walks free after Missouri judge vacates his conviction

    The man who confessed is serving a life sentence already. The released guy could be innocent or it could be a case of Criminal A with nothing to lose takes the fall for Criminal B.

    Hope not, but there is so much dishonesty associated with claims of wrongful convictions.

    The University of Missouri System just announced to employees today that they are planning to institute a vaccine mandate. In the email, they mentioned that Governor Parsons had just issued an executive order “related to vaccine mandates,” not mentioning that it prohibits them.

    It will be interesting to see who wins a show-down.

    Perhaps we should be preparing (should have already been preparing) lawsuits to slow or stop anything Biden tries to do.

  • Why don’t we drink pig’s milk?

    From the internet... don’t know if it’s true, but amusing:

    Guy Petzall

    Dear Guy:
    I was excited to hear that each day you sit down to a meal of bacon, because today’s pork products are 31% leaner than they were ten years ago. Pork is delicious and very healthy as many physicians recognize it as a very important source of protein. But the opportunity they present to the dairy industry is very limited.

    Porcine do lactate and their milk I will assume would taste great, because it is made of 8.5% fat in relation to the fat that makes up 3.5% of the components in cows milk. The other components such as lactose and water are found at nearly the same percentages in pig’s milk. However, pigs will on average produce 13 lbs of milk in a day as compared to cows that produce 65 lbs of milk on average per day. Pigs unlike cows cannot become pregnant while lactating and therefore possess a severe economic problem to producers. whfle pigs consume less feed per day, economics does not allow pigs to be a viable source of dairy products.

    The biggest challenge facing the porcine dairy industry is collecting the product. Pigs on average have fourteen teats as opposed to cows that have four teats. Pigs also differ from cows in their milk ejection time, a cows milk ejection is stimulated by the hoimone oxytocin and can last ten minutes, where as a pig’s milk ejection time only last fifleen seconds as the suckling pigs stimulate the release of oxytoc in. The technology of a 14 cupped mechanized milking machine that can milk a pig in 15 seconds is not available to pork producers.

    I hope I have answered your questions and I encourage you to think about developing a pig milking machine as you eat your bacon in the fixture.

    Good Luck

  • Trump exposes 'academia’s addiction' to foreign students....

    I’ve worked with international students in an American public university for decades, and I will say, hosting international students is an excellent way of promoting the American worldview abroad. Often students who come here end up learning what is really going on in the world and even in their own countries for the first time (perhaps despite the universities’ efforts at times).

    They so regularly fall in love with our country after being here that certain countries only allow them to come to the US if they have what are essentially hostages back home to guarantee that they return.

    However, we have to make sure that the students are really students and not spies, and we need to keep better track of them while they are here to ensure that they leave when their visas expire.

    Political pandering, of course, but I just looked it up... great lyrics, especially the third stanza:

    Lift ev’ry voice and sing,
    ‘Til earth and heaven ring,
    Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
    Let our rejoicing rise
    High as the list’ning skies,
    Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
    Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
    Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
    Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
    Let us march on ’til victory is won.

    Stony the road we trod,
    Bitter the chastening rod,
    Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
    Yet with a steady beat,
    Have not our weary feet
    Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
    We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
    We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
    Out from the gloomy past,
    ‘Til now we stand at last
    Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

    God of our weary years,
    God of our silent tears,
    Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
    Thou who has by Thy might
    Led us into the light,
    Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
    Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
    Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
    Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
    May we forever stand,
    True to our God,
    True to our native land.

    Ending a sentence in a preposition is not a grammatical error in English. English has always allowed for this all the way back to Anglo-Saxon times. The no-sentences-ending-in-prepositions rule was erroneously imported from Latin, probably in the 17th century.

  • Media Parrot Study Finding Women Don’t Regret Abortion; Ignore Flaws

    Looking at the methodology, it looks like they sought to interview around 3000 women (if I’ve done my math right), but only 956 agreed to participate, and only 678 completed a survey within the last two years of the study.

    It’s entirely possible that women who didn’t regret their abortion were happy to participate in the study while those that regretted it were not.

    The almost 300 that dropped out of the study might have come to regret it during that time and didn’t want to continue participating.

    Or not.

    There’s really no way to know, but when 77% of potential candidates refuse to be part of the sample, it’s difficult to trust the conclusion of the study.

    On a side note, women’s post-abortion guilt is an important thing to point out, but it isn’t what makes abortion wrong. Even if everyone were delighted by abortion, it would still be wrong.

    Voted at 6:05 am in Excelsior Springs, MO.

    More people than usual. There were 19 in line ahead of me and about 50 behind me within the first 10 minutes... EX Springs is a smaller town near KC, about 10,000.

    In previous elections there have been only a few voters there that early. I left my driver's license at work and used an expired passport and a utility bill as my identification. No problems...
