"I’d have them lined up for the Marine Recruiter......

Hopefully for the purposes of target practice... "

    This is too much!

I have been on Free Republic since it began.

When posts like this start showing up - and they have more and more - it is obvious that FR has been hijacked by the evil or the unbelievably imbecilic.

The Marines should use teenagers who didn't stand up during the pledge for target practice?

    Really!

Even Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Che and Fidel would be proud of you though.

I am out of here. There are still some blogs where one can have an intelligent discussion of the issues. Unfortunately, FR is no longer one of them.

    Good Bye

"So if this, 14 year old "freedom fighter" had decided that the subject matter in a class being taught was wrong, he has the right to express his opinion regardless of how stupid, inane and wrong it is."

Absolutely yes! And the student must also bear the consequences of his actions.

Apparently you 'feel' (I dare not say 'think') he only has the right to speak up if he agrees with the instructor or if it's somehow verifiable before the student speaks up that the student is right and the teacher is wrong. Should students have to check with someone first to make sure it's okay to disagree?

Apparently you feel that students must be little think-alike droids who must never be allowed to think for themselves, even if they are wrong. Are disagreement and discussion terrible things? Must students learn that no questioning or disagreements are allowed?

"Why? Is it wrong to expect that US citizens actually have some love for this country? "

    An expectation is fine.

    A requirement is not.

Are we a totalitarian country now?

"I propose that we reduce Global Warming and prevent Climate Change by reducing demand for fossil fuels by eliminating all Commies, Socialists, Jihadists, crimaliens, telemarketers, and The Great Unwashed.

That should put a huge dent in the problem."

    My solution is even simpler.

If everyone on earth simultaneously lit their old used tires on fire, we could block out that bad old Mr. Sun for quite some time and really cool the planet off.

I am committed to ending global warming as fast as possible (for the children).

If global warming is such a real and immediate threat as put forward by these fear-mongering 'scientists', such a quick and sure-fire (pun intended) solution needs to be put on the table immediately.

Once again, they can't refute what Limbaugh asserts, so they resort to personal attack and call him names. And the morons in the audience confirm their lack of intelligence by applauding!

    Truly an astounding display.

"It doesn't matter that it wasn't open. You have to trust me, I know this for a fact. Cops freqently stop and check on the status of early morning bakers. Bakers are one of the few people around after the bars close. Donut shop bakers also have access to a very fresh, precious item, as well as hot coffee.

Any other Freepers have personal knowledge/experience that can back me up on this?"

    Be glad to.

I used to operate coin operated games (pinball machines, etc) in a donut shop in Rancho Cordova (near Sacramento)Ca.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies made it a regular stop between 2 and 5 AM (when the shop was closed) to 'check up on the safety of the donut maker/baker'.

And yes, they always got free coffee and a nice warm freshly made donut or ten.

But I'm still glad that they were there checking up on the place.

" How to keep $$ out of TERRORISTS HANDS in a CONVENIENCE STORE?

Stay away from them, if you see a white person behind the counter, it's ok. "

Most of the convenience stores in my area are owned and staffed by Sikhs. They are not Muslims, and are very conservative and pro-American, but they have dark skin.

Is it okay with you if I engage in commerce at their venues?

I just want to do what's right. (sarc/off)

    ".22 magnum

I have been wanting to buy one for some time."

It's a great round and hollow point .22WMR's are very effective on coyotes...and also very illegal for that purpose in California because they are a rimfire round.

In my experience, a 30-06 is too powerful for coyote control on small farms, but I have dispatched many with an old 45-70. The slow-moving round will obliterate a coyote and won't keep going for miles if you should happen to miss.

"No one has mentioned it yet, but I really hope that baby receives the rabies vaccine. "

    You are likely correct.

The story said the attack occurred mid-day. It is somewhat unusual to spot a healthy coyote except in the early to mid morning or near dusk. Same goes for skunks and possums. If you see one during broad daylight, something is likely amiss - and it is also a symptom of rabies in these animals.

Perhaps not...but John McCain could and will soundly defeat whatever wet noodle the Democrats decide to run.

P.S. Just wondering...what's the point of all the posts about 'Juan McLame/McQueeq/Mc"Insert Insult Here", etc.

Does the name calling add to the credibility of the poster's arguments?

Is it supposed to be funny? Clever?? (It's getting rather tiresome, IMHO.)

    Just wondering...

"Never understood the appeal of a fraternity.

"When I was a college student in the mid to late '60's in California, the un-coolest thing you could do was to join a fraternity. At the time, fraternities were the campus joke and it was the fraternity members who were considered losers because they had to buy their friends and they dressed like 1957 when it was 1969. They also took pride in their alcoholic lifestyles while all the rest of the students were getting stoned on pot.

Of course, some of the frat boys were closet potheads too. Many campus pot dealers were members of fraternities (the Teaks or the TKE fraternity had members who were drug dealers on our campus in the late '60's.)And they were the most "jock" frathouse on campus! Go figure.

You obviously are not a parent nor do you have any familiarity with 8 year old kids. I suppose when you were 8, you and all the other 8 year olds in your neighborhood were incredibly brilliant and never had to be taught anything or be corrected about your behavior.

Do you mean the 'right' side of the road or the proper side of the road? It's been about 50 yrs. since I've biked, but we always used to ride on the left so as to face traffic and see what's coming."

Most places require you to do the opposite. This is mainly due to the fact that a motorist making a right turn from an intersecting street is likely to check traffic coming his direction for an opening while not looking to his right at all (you are approaching from his right and he will not see you).

"Apparently it hasn't occurred to the kid or the mom that perhaps looking over one's shoulder before swerving into the street might be a good idea. "

Yes it did occur to the mom and kid if you had the ability to comprehend what you read. Or maybe you didn't read the part where the mom doesn't accuse the Prius driver of any wrongdoing.

Here in So.Cal, where the Prius dominates, my wife was 'brushed' by a Prius while walking to her car in the parking lot at Cedars Sinai Hospital. The driver had just rounded a blind corner and had to swerve and put on her brakes to avoid injuring or killing my wife. The Prius actually did make very slight contact with her.

The really scary part was that you could not hear the car approaching at all. And this was in an inside parking garage! It appeared as if it came from nowhere.

If you don't think that your body has developed automatic subconscious cues to danger that are activated by sound, then try to ignore the next hornet that buzzes around your head.
