The national debt is the single biggest threat to national security, according to Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Tax payers will be paying around $600 billion in interest on the national debt by 2012, the chairman told students and local leaders in Detroit. “That’s one year’s worth of defense budget,” he said, adding that the Pentagon needs to cut back on spending.

Was listening to the Mike Broomhead Show on KFYI here in Phoenix. Two female callers on separate lines called in to tell similar stories. A group of Prop 100 (A Bill to raise our Sales Tax by 1% for "Education" and "Law Enforcement") Protestors at the Broadway Curve and at the US60 & Longmore Overpass in Mesa, were holding banners showing their disagreement with Prop 100 and similar bills in other cities. These banners were viewable by freeway traffic. In both instances, the groups, self-described as 'Old ladies in sneakers' were told to take down the signs by Department of...

by: Lewis Carroll The sun was shining on the sea, Shining with all his might: He did his very best to make The billows smooth and bright -- And this was odd, because it was The middle of the night. The moon was shining sulkily, Because she thought the sun Had got no business to be there After the day was done -- 'It's very rude of him,' she said, 'To come and spoil the fun.' The sea was wet as wet could be, The sands were dry as dry. You could not see a cloud, because No cloud was...

    12/25/2009 9:00:56 AM PST · by Hoosier-Daddy · 6 replies · 342+ views
Thank you all who offered prayers. My daughter's teammate is able to now move her legs and her left foot. With time, she is expected to make a full recovery. She will be facing many challenges, and many months of physical therapy, but with her teammates help and support, she should be fine. Thank you, thank you all, for your prayers. She started recovery in earnest after your kind responses. It could have easily went the other way. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

My Daughter's best friend on her soccer team (U12) was injured at a match on Saturday. She has a spinal contusion diagnosed as Conus Medullaris Syndrome. She is only 11 years old and is paralyzed from the waist down. I do not normally post such things, but she is a wonderful young lady whose life may have just changed forever. Any prayers would be appreciated.

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (CNN) -- All Nathan Moore says he wanted to do was smoke pot and get drunk with his friends. Killing Rex Baum was never part of the plan that day in 2004. "It all started off as a game," Moore said. The 15-year-old and his friends were taunting the homeless man -- throwing sticks and leaves -- after having a couple of beers with him. No big deal, Moore says, but he's sorry for what came next. It was a mistake, he said, a sudden primal surge that made him and his friends Luis Oyola, 16, and 17-year-old...

The overwhelming assessment by Asian officials, diplomats and analysts is that the U.S. military simply cannot defeat China. It has been an assessment relayed to U.S. government officials over the past few months by countries such as Australia, Japan and South Korea. This comes as President Bush wraps up a visit to Asia, in which he sought to strengthen U.S. ties with key allies in the region. Most Asian officials have expressed their views privately. Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara has gone public, warning that the United States would lose any war with China. "In any case, if tension between the...
