Congress will allow the transfer of old U.S. Army pistols to the Civilian Marksmanship Program as a part of the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act. The 2016 NDAA allowed the release of 10,000 M1911 .45 caliber pistols to be released via a pilot program, but providions in the bill didn’t mandate the transfer of the guns to the Civilian Marksmanship Program. The new bill, passed by Congress and expected to pass the Senate, would allow the CMP to sell the pistols to civilians. The surplus pistols are the largest remaining stock of military World War II-era handguns according to Guns.com,...

When Governor Nikki Haley – in the wake of the shooting that claimed the lives of nine churchgoers in Charleston – called for the removal of the Confederate battle flag from the South Carolina State Capitol, it marked a significant shift. Across the South, symbols of the Confederacy have been taken off of store shelves and monuments to Confederate generals and leaders are being taken down even in 300-year-old cities like New Orleans. In one city in the Deep South, the name chosen to replace Old Dixie Highway, as WPTV reports, is a sign of the extent of the cultural...

A crime between races happened in West Point, Mississippi this weekend and no one stole other people’s stuff. No one showed their grief by stealing a television for their personal use. No one stole alcohol to show that they wanted justice. No one destroyed anyone else’s property to prove they want equality. No, in West Point, Mississippi, people acted civilized. In West Point, Mississippi a group of African Americans attacked two white guys and CNN, FOX and MSNBC will not be there. No special interest groups will be marching in the street and celebrity do-gooders, who protest for profit, will...

"We have in our midst tonight the pastor who led the ministry that produced the first African-American President," announced Rev. Reginald Woullard, Pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Eastabuchie, Miss. From my pew last Monday night, I could see Rev. Jeremiah Wright, President Obama's ex-pastor – the man who became infamous for shouting "God damn America!" from the pulpit. Woullard, who had invited Wright to preach a revival at Shady Grove, hailed him as "the Prince of Prophets." Two others – fellow USM students Robby Terrell and Tyrone Adams – joined me. Robby and I were the only white...

Federal officials said a letter addressed to a U.S. senator had been discovered to contain a potential poison. It was intercepted at an off-site facility in Landover where congressional mail has been examined before delivery since anthrax-laced letters were sent to Capitol Hill in 2001. The letter was addressed to Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and tested positive for ricin, but officials familiar with the case gave no indication why the letter was sent to the second-term senator. In a statement, Wicker thanked federal authorities “for their hard work and diligence in keeping those of us who work in the Capitol...

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Law enforcement agencies around the state are educating their officers on the new open carry weapons law, which is known as House Bill 2. I won this monster over the holidays, Vanguard 300 Weatherby Mag. I live in north MS and the largest thing we have to hunt is white tail deer. This is overkill. I don't know much about it but kinda like it for my small collection. I don't think I will ever get the chance to hunt with it. Would you suggest keep it, trade it or sell it?

While NAACP President Benjamin Jealous lashed out at new state laws requiring photo ID for voting, an NAACP executive sits in prison, sentenced for carrying out a massive voter fraud scheme.
