  • Civil rights challenge brewing over Fairfax County's loss of 2300 mostly Republican absentee votes

Either we 8th Districters are inordinately lethargic and stupid compared to those who live a few miles away, or Fairfax County lost those 2300 votes.

Although the 8th District returned incumbent Jim Moran to Congress, his Republican challenger Tom O'Donoghue actually received a majority of the absentee votes in the 8th District portion of Fairfax County. Thus it is likely that the majority of the lost 2300 votes were for Allen, who has conceded after being behind by 6000 votes.

You can read the details of this outrage in the article entitled "Fairfax County Lost 2000 8th District Absentee Senate Votes That Tom O'Donoghue Voters Cast" at http://www.goodbyejim.com/1163166469/index_html.

Although it won't change the result, I object to the incompetent and pro-Moran government of Fairfax County losing my vote. I intend to file a civil rights challenge with the Fairfax County Office of Human Rights.

In order to file a civil rights challenge one must be in a protected class of persons. I believe that I suffer from a peculiar mental condition, maybe obsessive-compulsive disorder or something, that required me to vote absentee. But what I would really like is some other people who voted absentee in the 8th District area of Fairfax County to join me in a complaint. Ideally, one or more of these people would have been sick or otherwise unable to vote. Sick persons are clearly a protected class.

That way the Human Rights office could not reject the complaint out of hand.

Please email me at goodbyejim@gmail.com if you voted absentee in the 8th District portion of Fairfax County and wish to file a civil rights complaint with me with the Fairfax County Office Of Human Rights. The goal will be to get a hearing and require Fairfax County to conduct a full recount of its absentee ballots. This recount ought to explain the discrepancy between the 8th District (24.4 percent of absentee ballots missing a Senate vote) and other districts in the county.

If we can get a hearing we will at some point want to enlist the help of talk radio to answer our unanswered questions about the breakdown in absentee vote-counting in the Jim Moran-dominated Fairfax County. Rep. Moran is the boss of the Democratic party in this mostly Democratic County. Moran threatens to deny earmarks to those who defy his will. Believe me when I say that elections here are not completely kosher.

  • Unpublicized Debate At Virginia Mosque Excludes Most Voters

There is reason to be concerned that Jim Moran, at least, would have used this opportunity to make secret statements to attendees that Moran did not want his Jewish constituents to know about.

In June 2001, U.S. Rep. Jim Moran made the following statement to attendees at the American Muslim Council's annual convention:

...Mr. Sharon is coming to Washington this week. He’s (boos in audience) no no no no, no, no, no. (something said in background) I’ll get in trouble, I don’t want you to do that. He’s probably seeking a warrant from President Bush to kill at will with weapons we have paid for. I hope he is not given that license...

...Now the reason I say these things is not to deliberately get in trouble, even though I know in every room where I speak there is always somebody who before the sun goes down will report to your cousins exactly everything that I’ve said (laughter/applause).

There is even more reason to be concerned that one of the debate participants (Moran) has previously made statements indicating an intent to hide his views from his Jewish constituents. A secret debate at a mosque enables this candidate to again exclude his Jewish constituents from knowledge of what this candidate is saying.

  • Failure Of NoVA Democrats To Disassociate Themselves From Jim Moran's "Cabal" Campaign Flyer

I have called all three. Sen. Puller does not return phone calls. Supervisor Kauffman does not return phone calls either.

Del. Mark Sickles, to his credit, is extremely generous with his time in speaking to me, as is his staff person Kevin. Del. Sickles is at present reluctant to do anything more than to tell me personally that there is not, in fact, a conspiracy or cabal against Jim Moran.

The 6/7/04 Washington Post listed the following incumbents as having recorded phone messages or sent out a personal letter endorsing Jim Moran. Additional local politicians endorsed Moran in a mass mailing that the Moran campaign sent out. That Moran mailing wrongly listed Fairfax County School Board member Stuart Gibson, who later endorsed Rosenberg, as being a Moran supporter:

Scrambling to defuse political damage from Secrest's comments last week, the campaign asked several popular state and local Democrats to record automated phone calls to voters, hoping to counter the allegation of anti-Semitism with their general enthusiasm for Moran. Among his recruits were Fairfax County supervisors Gerald W. Hyland (Mount Vernon), T. Dana Kauffman (Lee) and Penelope A. Gross (Mason), state Sen. Linda T. "Toddy" Puller (Fairfax), Del. Mark D. Sickles (Fairfax) and Barbara A. Favola, chairman of the Arlington County Board.

"It was the only way we could combat it," Dan Lucas, Moran's campaign manager, said of Secrest's charge.

The campaign also sent a pointed letter of support, signed by state Senate Minority Leader Richard L. Saslaw (D-Fairfax), to thousands of Moran's constituents. "You may have read or heard today about the completely unfounded allegations made by a former pollster vendor in the employ of Jim's past campaigns," Saslaw wrote. "I have known Jim Moran for 25 years, and he is not an anti-Semite, and, by the way, I happen to be Jewish."

He called the attack "outrageous." The letter was sent to homes in areas with large concentrations of Jewish Democrats, Lucas said. The 8th District, redrawn in 2000, includes Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church and a slice of Fairfax County that extends to Reston.

The Moran photo is from some website concerning high school science award winners. The awards organization had a reception and both Moran and VA senator George Allen was there. In the cropped photo you see, Moran was sharing a laugh with his pal Allen, the tip of whose face is in the photo.

For some reason, the photo had some digitization errors which made Moran seem to have blood flowing out of his mouth. He is hunched over and looks like a vampire. I did not retouch the photo, I merely cropped it.
