I am a fan of classic radio shows and I notice that until at least the late 1930s, what we know as the city of Los Angeles, California, was always referred to phonetically as, “Los Angle-Es”. Do any of our old timers or young timers with more knowledge than myself here know, or remember when, the pronunciation change was made, and by who, and why? You can hear this formerly de facto pronunciation in old radio shows from the 1930s such as this example - https://podcasts.apple.com/jp/podcast/case-closed-old-time-radio/id219708992?l=en&i I appreciate you all accepting my Vanity post.

This prescient film, and it’s radio series, also starring Frank Lovejoy, were very good predictors of what we see now from Democrats. Watch this and enjoy, and look for the radio series on old time radio podcasts or public domain repositories such as Archive.org. This series really does mirror what we see right now from Democrats.

See the graphs and download the data for all shitholes as actually produced by the very United Nations itself. All the countries that were referred to as shitholes, whether that was the actually "strong language" used or not, is entirely true and fact checked by the U.N! The #FakeNews refuses to do even attempt to do any research if it vindicates the truth or President Donald Trump. MSM, please just FOAD. Enjoy! Download the data in CSV format here and do your own data sorting and data analysis. Shitholes have higher HDI numbers. Notice that Central African Republic ranks as...

I stumbled across this and had a wonderful laugh. This is an interview Tom Brokaw did with John Kerry just before the election in 2004 when he F-in' lost miserably to George W. Bush. Enjoy the historical laughs.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration’s (DOE/NNSA) will conduct a low-altitude helicopter flight over portions of the Arlington, Va., area July 22 to measure naturally occurring background radiation. Officials from NNSA announced that the radiation assessment will cover approximately three square miles. A twin-engine Bell 412 helicopter, operated by the Remote Sensing Laboratory Aerial Measuring System from Joint Base Andrews, will be equipped with radiation sensing technology. The helicopter will fly in a grid pattern over the area at 150 feet (or higher) above the ground surface, at a speed of approximately 80 miles...

I just joined up at Gab.ai. It is the free speech alternative to sites like Twitter, Facebook, Google that are lefty censorship mills banning anyone that doesn't tow the line of the crazy liberal left. It's more of a cross between Twitter and Reddit, and looks very nice. You'll find all the conservative, libertarian, and simply free speech views there - free speech meaning that only illegal activities are banned - everything else goes. I recommend any Freepers that use other social networking sites and are angry at bans on famous Trump supporters like Milo, and trying to take down...

A near-disaster in California probably wouldn’t be averted by the kind of privatized investment that the president has in mind. Tens of thousands of residents fled Oroville, California, on Sunday after water levels surged over a spillway at the Oroville Dam. Traffic jams reigned on highways leading north from Oroville, where officials ordered people to evacuate at 4:45 p.m. Oroville families, who made their way to the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico and other staging areas, face uncertainty in the coming days. By late Sunday night, water from Lake Oroville was no longer rushing over the top of the dam’s...

New research by an international team shows that the present thinning and retreat of Pine Island Glacier in West Antarctica is part of a climatically forced trend that was triggered in the 1940s. The team — made up of scientists from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the British Antarctic Survey, University of Copenhagen, University of Alaska, Naval Postgraduate School, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University, University of Leipzig, University of Geneva and University of Cambridge — analyzed sediment cores recovered beneath the floating Pine Island Glacier ice shelf. The team concluded the date at which the...

The link titled, "See help for more information" just above the text input box for replies is a dead link. Clicking it does absolutely nuffin'. (This has been my experience for what seems several months using Apple's Safari browser and other browsers.)

I found this particular old time radio episode very reminiscent of themes in Star Trek, Outer Limits, Ray Bradbury, and Twilight Zone. Furthermore, it was very interesting to hear about the "Holodeck" and distopian, robotic, disassociated society the family lives in. I think you will find the same similarities and more, and look forward to comments. You can find this episode at http://archive.org. I posted the original podcast link to give props to the podcast that put this one online for their show.

Nuclear reactors are powered by fuel containing fissile material. The fission process releases large amounts of useful energy and for this reason the fissioning components – U-235 and/or Pu- 239 – must be held in a robust physical form capable of enduring high operating temperatures and an intense radiation environment. Fuel structures need to maintain their shape and integrity over a period of several years within the reactor core, thereby preventing the leakage of fission products into the reactor coolant. The standard fuel form comprises a column of ceramic pellets of uranium oxide, clad and sealed into zirconium alloy tubes....

Which songs epitomize the stupidity and ignorance of Obama supporters? If you have any examples, either in video links, posted lyrics, or just recollections, please tell us. I respectfully submit the following fantastic example from the God of Rock/Jazz/Xenocronicity, etc. The most prescient musical philosopher of all time, Frank Zappa, doing Flakes, from Shiek Yerbouti, in a pink jump suit, in 1981. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFvtoJrK1Zg

On the honorable island nation of North Dumpling, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry’s preside as Ministers of Ice Cream, while other notables hold such titles as Minister of Brunch and Minister of Nepotism. North Dumpling has its own constitution, issues its own visas, and prints its own currency, which bears the likeness of its most famous (OK, only) resident. But while his very private island off the coast of Connecticut may have its whimsies, renowned inventor Dean Kamen wants to show the world the fun in functionality. He’s created the most carbon-neutral kingdom on the planet...
